A good value for Berlin

Having stayed at a number of more expensive hotels in Berlin, I thought I would try a budget hotel for a change. I paid around * a night for the room which was totally acceptable. Ok, the bathroom is small as mentioned by another reviewer, but this is Europe where everything is small! It wasnt so small that it was uncomfortable, and it was very clean.
The front desk clerks were polite and attentive, gave me a room facing the street but there really was not much noise at all. The room was a good size for Berlin, 2 twin sizxed beds pushed together, and the linen was clean and relatively new. There is a small separate area for your suitcase with a closet, and the room has a chair, coffee table and loveseat so you dont have to sit on the bed to watch tv. My only real complaint about the room was that it smelled just slightly of beer and cigarettes, but not enough to make me ask for another room. The fridge was stocked with candy, beer and soda, a nice touch for a budget hotel. The clientele ranged from drunk young British girls, to white collar European couples, to some young Asian tourists. And of course yours truly, a distinguished guest. There is a nice bar and restaurant adjacent to the lobby but if you opt not to use those facilities, there are a good number of restaurants and bars within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. I walked down to the corner and had a gyro for dinner for 3 euros.
I think the hotel is a good value for the money, and would surely stay here again when duty calls.
Tiny bathroom/ Terrible desk Clerks

The rooms were very clean. The Television was small and outdated. The bathroom so so tiny, it was impossible to remove you pants to use the toilet. There were no grab bar in the bath. There was actually no place to put one due to the tiny space. The desk clerks were so rude and would look the other way when we would speak. The exception was Mike. He was from the UK and was very helpful and full of knowledge about Berlin. He answered all my questions ,gave good directions and was so helpful. I enjoyed speaking with him.
The major issue I have with this hotel is that I had pre-paid for breakfast when I booked online. Both mornings we ate breakfast, our room was not on the paid list. During checkout, I was told I had to pay again because the Voucher I had turned in which stated breakfast was included was not available. The clerk refused to look for it. I was told to pay now or they would charge my card. I was given a reciept which stated the 48 Euro for two people, for two mornings. After I returned home, I recovered a copy of my hotel booking voucher and verified that breakfast was indeed paid. I am now disputing this charge. Oh, and the food, it was great!
