RWI was a great place to stay. Staff went out of their way to accomodate us and always greeted all guests with a smile. Nice accomodations, stayed in an efficiency which included small kitchen, washer - dryer, patio overlooking gardens.
Beach was wonderful, They were there to help guests with chairs, umbrellas, towels, hobie cat (included at no extra charge) and kayak use. Couls not have been nicer.
Food in restaurant (Mango Bay) was very good, exellent service except for bar area which tended to be slow and somewhat surly.
Did not need to rent a car, walked to numerous restaurants and shops within 15 minutes
Overall, a 10 out of 10. Will definitely be back next year.
ROYAL WEST INDIES RESORT

Very lovely hotel. Not really a resort, although the staff will accommodate you and make reservations at the Provo Golf course, about 1 mile away, and making reservations for you an Eco Tours, kayaking, escorted boat tours, etc.
The first floor studio faced the gardens and was spectacular. The hurricane Ike passed through last September (2008) but you would not know this as the trees, and flowering plants were replaced and are very well done and beautiful.
The Mango Reef restaurant could use a good chef! Not very dynamic or creative. Breakfast was acceptable but a very limited selection. Dinner was disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the food was acceptable, prepared well, and the wait staff was good; but compared to other resorts restaurants, and other restaurants on Provo it would rate in the lower 20%.
Royal West Indies is located directly adjacent to Club Med (to the East), and as Club Med does they have beach parties that get very LOUD!, and is a small annoyance! For those not interested in loud music and "party time" ask to stay on the West side of the resort.
The rooms were clean, well attended. The hot tub was great, the pool was cool. Attendants keep the beach area ready with lounge chairs, umbrellas, and towels.
Provo is "Beautiful by Nature" If you have never been there, take the time to go. A little pricey but nice. There are very few tourist traps so do not go there to shop all day long. This is an island in which to relax and enjoy the beach and beautiful blue Carib!

We stayed at the RYI in May 2008 and had a fabulous stay. The hotel was clean, staff friendly, grounds beautiful. Hobie cat, bikes etc. available for use free of charge. The studio was perfect and enabled having breakfast and lunch in. Lots of great restaurants in Provo (although some did require having a car to get there). In all---would definitely return and stay again at RWI. A good value and great location!

This hotel is a good value for the island. Slightly above basic accomodations - nothing fancy. I would stay here again if I were on a budget. Next trip (and I am definitely going back to this island) I will look for something a bit more luxurious. Island is one of the most beautiful places I have been to (compared to MANY in caribbean). Staff was always friendly, no complaints here. We only ate at the restaurant once for lunch - can't really give a review. Our favorite dinner was at Bella Luna. Highly recommend renting a car to explore and pick up food at the grocery store (but not necessary). Taxi's are VERY expensive. Renting a car is way cheaper than paying the taxi prices.
