Description: (Read Part 1 here)The food at Tesoro was delicious. I have stayed at all-inclusive hotels in Cancun, Montego Bay, and Puerto Vallarta, and this was my favorite. I loved the pancakes and hash browns in the morning, the rice, tortilla, chips and guacamole for snacks. I thought the little snack bar with little sandwiches, chips, drinks, and keg beer, was very thoughtful (I wish they had bottled water though). The pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris were very good. The bartenders were super nice, and always remembered my drink—barcardi & diet coke! The restaurant (now called Blue Agave, I think) was outstanding. We ate there 2 of the nights we were there. I loved the fajitas, the tortilla soup, the lobster (we didn't think the $15 charge was that big of a deal on what would easily have been a $100 meal elsewhere), and the atmosphere was definitely 5 star. Make reservations early, though, it books up.
I also loved the drinks and large bottles of water that they re-stocked in your room everyday. No other hotel I've ever been to has done that.
Being right next to the marina, you have your choice of restaurants, shops, and bars, all facing the marina. You are also walking distance (well, it was really hard in heels with the roads like they are) to the major bars and shopping.
The main bar in the lobby is a great place to be at night , very lively, great for people watching. It is a great place to get your night started.
Now, what I didn't like:
1. The pool area was too small. There were never enough chairs, and people get out there super early and put their stuff on the chairs to reserve them and then leave.
2. While wearing the all-inclusive wristband, everybody in the town KNOWS you are staying at Tesoro and will yell things like "discounts for people at Tesoro!" to get your attention. Plus the tan lines! Uggh!
3. The water taxi times (every hour) never seemed to match up with our schedule!
4. I wish we had stayed ON the beach, but I knew that going in to this hotel…
Probably, the only reason I wouldn't stay there again is because I really like to lay by the pool/beach and it wasn't that easy to do. The price was definitely right, the service was good, the hotel was very pretty, it was fun, and in a great location. I would recommend it to my friends.
