FIESTA AMERICANA GOOD - OLYMBUS BUS TRAVEL HORRIFIC

  • August 28, 2008
  • Rated 3 of 5 by a traveler from Travelocity.com
While I agree with some of the reviews (Good & Bad); the rooms for one are in need of repair. However the first night when we complained about our room they put us in a nicer room and we no longer had to endure a non airconditioned room or a musty/mildew smell. If we had to endure that room we would have left because our heads were killing us based upon the smell alone (Definite Mold Issues). The food and drinks are expensive unless you purchase packages. We purchased the breakfast package 17/pp and were satisfied, however 880 pesos ($8.80 USD) is ridiculous for drinks. If you see OLYMBUS Bus Transfers when making a selection for transportation....STAY AWAY; you are better off with getting a taxi. After a long flight to Mexico; they keep you outside in the heat trying to sell you tours (even after you tell them you are not interested and want what you paid for, which is to go to your hotel). Once you arrive howevever the Olympus Bus Tours has a salesman waiting at the hotel and continues to badger you....The salesman had the nerve to tell the Bellman to take our luggage to our room so he could sit with us...we were TIRED, HUNGRY and HOT and he was PUSHY ANNOYING AND RUDE!

Wonderful Christmas Holiday

My partner & I stayed here over Christmas and had a wonderful time. For Mexico, the room was nice, large, but basic by American standards. But we felt it was a very good value. Do not judge this hotel by American standards. Step out of the box, relax, have a few of their wonderful Margaritas (some of the best I have EVER had) and you will surely have a good time. We had a wonderful time last Christmas, that we are going back this year with another couple.

Slightly Disappointing Stay

I was not involved in the booking of our recent stay with the Fiesta Americana Condesa but I do know that we will NOT go back. The lobby is impressive. Not great but impressive due to the flooring, the roof and the open air. However, if you really look around, this place is on its downhill run. It is in serious need of a remodel. When taken to our 2 adjoining rooms you encountered that "Mexico Musty" smell when you took your first step inside the door. Figured I would kick on the AC to knock it out and turn on the ceiling fans. In one room the AC did not work and the other room the ceiling fan did not work. We asked for a change of rooms. I was given a key to go look at two rooms by myself. Found two rooms where the AC worked and the ceiling fans worked. Here are my thoughts: 1. Poor upkeep - lots of maintenance/repair neglect and obvious amateur patching up of needed repairs. 2. Pools (all of them) are in need of cleaning and better circulation. 3. Bar prices are too high. 880 pesos for an average drink drove us into town to secure our own. If this hotel is going to compete, it needs to do some major upgrading pretty soon. Cracked and missing tiles, missing handrails, cinder blocks thrown in planter boxes, mold and other problems are everywhere. The staff was nice and helpful and the morale seemed good. The place just needs a thorough going over with repairs and upkeep.

A Nightmare from Start to Finish

We paid for the all incl. master king suite so we could have a hot tub on the balcony. Not only did it not work & was filthy - we dealt w/ 2 seperate rooms flooding, mold infestation and bugs all of the walls and bed. Hot tub did not work in either room . Bed felt like a box spring with no mattress. We were moved to JW Marriott for last night and came home 4 days early. Hotel staff was rude and has refused to credit us back for the 2 nights of stay duing which we had maintenance staff in and out of room at all hours. Locks on all balcony doors did not work and balconies are accessible from other rooms. The only positive about this resort was the food. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone as it seems it would not meet basic minimum health standards.

Very Nice Hotel

The Condesa was very clean and beautiful. The only complaint would be that the food in the on-site restaurants are a bit pricey. Especially the breakfast buffet. You'll get a better breakfast for your money. Other than that, the hotel was nice and I would definitely stay there again.
