Love the rustic feel from the floors to the roof. It is a great view of the city at night & has a great night club onsite. A wonderful breakfast buffet and lots of things to do at the hotel if you just want to relax or have a lazy day. from pool to game room & gym. want to return with the kids some day.

Guadalajara Stay at El Tapatio

We enjoyed staying at this hotel. It is very secure with a gated entrance with a security guard. The room was huge, it had two beds and a separate large bathroom area. Everyone was pleasant we ate in the restaurant and the service was good. Sunday brunch was excellent and there was a mariachi band playing. They had a wonderful selection of typical Mexican food. The hotel is really in Tlaquepague and sits on a hill, the view of the city of Guadalajara at night was lovely. The price was very low for the quality of the hotel. I would stay there again.

Tapatio Hotel and Resort (El)

This used to be a high class hotel, unfortunately the little hill is not what it used to be.

The place is not bad, the service is good but the golden age of the hotel is gone. There are some renovations going on like changing the locks in the rooms to accommodate cards instead of the old fashioned brass key. When you go around the hill in the way to the reception you pass a lot of vacant lots and vacant houses -very expensive ones- the green areas are unkempt, the rooms may be mushy but are clean and spacious.

We had the breakfast buffet, it wasn't something to write home about but it was a tasty and filling meal. You get the normal fare: eggs any style, sausages, pancakes, fresh fruit, juices, cereal and yogurt, plus the Mexican side of the equation: beans, chilaquiles, café de olla, etc.

One night I ordered room service, a basic club sandwich and it was perfectly done and the fries were freshly fried, the price was very reasonable as all the items in the room service menu.

Main drawback was that the wireless Internet signal was unusable at the rooms area, but I just went to the business center where you find three PCs and a printer available at all times free or charge.

The location, being on top of a hill had its benefits in the past, great view and isolation from the city, but with the high pollution of Guadalajara those are not the highlights anymore. But a main fact is the nearness of the hotel to the airport, mere 10 minutes with normal traffic, and being near the industrial zone (if you got business in the area) or the VFG Arena to watch a show. This is the best hotel in the area, the other being Casa Grande in front of the air terminal.

About facilities, you get a great pool with a swim up bar, located in the middle of the nice gardens. There is a small gym with treadmills, stationary bike, elliptical trainer, and few weight machines. If you are driving a car, you can park in front of your building making it a more private stay. There is a small disco in the main building, fortunately far enough from the rooms to be if no issue when there are parties going around.

This may not be the luxuriest hotel in Guadalajara but is great for a relaxing stay and you don't need to travel to the other side of town if your business are near Tlaquepaque or the airport.

Interesting motel on a hill with a great view of the city, nice large rooms somewhat rustic, large balcony, lots of highway noise from surrounding highways, not close to downtown, nice pool in quite courtyard, friendly staff, no regrets but stayed only one night! Would try downtown next visit to Guadalajarta.
