The hotel looks great, room is huge with large balcony, high ceiling, nice bathroom. Great hotel staff, respectful, friendly, courteous, they greet you outside even if they just pass by, creating inviting atmosphere. Food and service in the Mexican and Italian restaurants excellent, and service is great. Beach has everything you may need and fresh towels always there. Ocean is calm and nice. Dolphins swim very close. Kids have great time at the water slides, lots of activities for any taste, or you may keep yourself drunk 24 hours - it is all included. If you want to have barmen and waitresses attention - tip. It is not necessary, but I changed $100.00 and gave $1.00 every time I ordered drink (you may order 10 at once, same tip) It is like Vegas, they remember good tippers and give you better service. Also at breakfast, lunch and dinner I left a dollar on the table, it helps a lot with the attitude. After all we spent only sixty bucks on tips in a week. Best bars are indoors, near the Italian restaurant, and in second building near mini disco. Best buffet is grand in second building. Worst snack place and bar near kids water slide. Bartender knows only how to pour beer. Souvenir shop on the beach sucks, consider looking for better stuff other places. Nobody offered us to buy the timeshare which is great. Book restaurants first day you are there for whole stay, best are Mex, and Italian. And the last one the yellow taxi charges no more than $15.00 for the ride from airport to hotel. Leave the airport, turn left and cross the bridge above the road. Great safe place to spend a week with kids, they loved crabs, turtles, dolphins, jet skis, ets...

What a week. This was our second trip to PVR and while both times were great this location was diffently an upgrade from the other location we visited in Feb. We stayed in the Club portion of the Marival. Make sure if you aren't a late night person you ask for a room away from the entertainment area otherwise you will be up till midnight. The food was wonderful especially in the specialty restaurants. The pools were great and the activities great. Swim up bars were nice but need to catch the attention of bartender to serve you. Overall it was a great trip and we will go back.

I've been to several other all inclusives, and I would rate this place high on the list. We asked to merge rooms with my entire family (arriving from different locations in the US) and we were upgraded at no addt'l cost to a 3 bedroom suite overlooking the ocean. We had 3 balconies and plenty of room for 7 of us. This was a nice perk!! Front desk was very nice to work with on this item. The sit down restaturants have good food, so I recommend making your reservations and enjoying a few meals from a menu. The buffets offer a solid food variety and most people should be able to find themself somthing to eat. Themes on the buffet change each night. (italian night, mexican night, spanish night...etc..) Resort has a nice beach front location with a place to get kayaks, boogie boards, etc.. at no addt'l cost. The ocean swimming was nice and warm. Waves can get quite large, but beach would be fun for kids. I was on vacation with adults, but this seems to be a very family oriented place. Many young kids and what appears to be a good family resort. I would like to take my kids back as they could do a little bit of everything (beach, pools, waterslides, activities, kid friendly snacks). The activity staff is fun and helpful. Always try to get people involved. I think you can go places at this resort to make it as quiet or as "party like" that fits your mood. GREAT TIME. We all agreed that we would LOVE to go back!!! NO major issues that dampened the mood.

This resort is overall not bad for the money. Lots of activities, decent tasting food. Not great service, and you will see our other issues: My 3-year-old got hurt in the kiddie pool and needed stitches...no lifeguard or rules posted on age-limits for the waterslides. I asked for help getting to a hospital and a pediatrician and nobody at the desk would help me with that...(we didn't know there was a new American hospital in town until afterwards) They basically forced us go to the resort doctor whose office is in a closet. After waiting with a screaming and bleeding child for 30 minutes, the "doctor" prepared by digging through his dirty Plano fishing tackle box for the appropriate supplies. There was no nurse available, so I assisted for the local anesthetic and the stitches! The beds were hard as a rock, which I may have been more sensitive to, as I was 6 months pregnant. We had to move rooms several times and ask for extra padding several times to make it bearable. The staff treated us like we were a nuisance. There were bugs in the rooms that would come out at night. Two of the four adults in our party got salmonella poisoning! I was 6 months pregnant with Salmonella poisoning in the rock hard bed, very ill for days. I could barely walk by the time I got to the airport. I ended up going right ot the ER after we touched back down in the US. Also, don't book your activities outside of the resort through the resort! We went on a day trip/boat charter/picnic to a "private beach" and got ripped off for $20 per person because of their extra charge. Get ideas from them and then call directly to book yourself!
