This was a girl’s trip for me and 2 of my friends. We had the time of our life in Puerto/Nuevo Vallarta. The resort was great! We had wonderful dinners most nights. We did have to make reservations at the 4 restraints, but we just made sure we made them late (8:00ish) to give us plenty of time at the beach/pool and time to relax and get ready for dinner. The staff was great and super friendly. The pools were all really nice but we spent most of our time on the beach which was really great. There were always plenty of beach and pool chairs available at anytime of the day. The only thing I would have changed is that we didn't have wait service at the beach or pool...but we managed just fine. We are already trying to plan our next visit to Marival!!!
Very good for Families and good for couples also.

Should suit most people. We were there as part of a large group of people down for a wedding, not at the hotel. The group was full of couples and families and all had a good time. There was some issues with some of the rooms but people were changed very quickly by management. The kids had something to do everyday and if you didn't want to leave the resort and explore there was no need to . The was plenty of choice of restaurant with the Italian and the mexican the most popular. The steak and International was hit and miss. The buffet was great for all!! Staff very friendly. I would recommend this hotel.
Very Pleased with my stay

What can I say. The hotel front desk staff was very nice and helpful whenever I asked about things to do in the area. Anything I needed for my room was delivered quickly. The buffet resturants were above average with good variety. The deserts could use some improvements. My friends ate at the Asian resturant and said it was not good. I heard that from other people in the hotel but I did not eat there. The hotel is in a great location. I purchased several suveniers in the gift shop that were not overpriced. Two small opportunities for improvement would be the fitness center. I expected much much more from a hotel of this class and the desserts on the buffet were not good at all. These are minor gripes but I was very pleased with my stay. If you are single looking for other singles you may want to stay closer to the Malecon. This is an excellent hotel for families, weddings/honeymoons or to just get away from the world.
Not a 4 Star Hotel

Have stayed at several other 4 star hotels in Mexico - Marival does not quite measure up. Don't expect a Corona or Pacifico or name brand beer or liquor here and no bottle water from the beach bar either! Also expect to walk to bar to get your drinks- no roaming waiters at pool or beach. Beach is fairly dirty. In room safe required me to walk back to front lobby after checking in to rent a lock. Buffet is not as large and varied as should be. Kids had difficult time picking foods they would eat. Most rooms do not have view of anything. For just a little more money you could stay at Dreams on the south side of the bay with nice beach and blue water and great service and food. We deeply regretted trying somewhere different!
Beautiful pool and beach but terrible food

The pool and beach are very nice and were the strong point of this hotel. Unfortunately, the food was terrible at this all-inclusive. The food was as bad as the food at my college dining hall many years ago. For example, on Spanish night, they served the worst paella that I have ever had. The staff was lazy and did not seem to care. At one meal, ants crawled on three different plates of food. The food was tasteless at best. The beds were rock-hard and uncomfortable and the small pads did not help. Finally, "guest services" turned out to be agressive time-share salesman who did not care to help on anything but a timeshare pitch. Avoid this hotel.
