First time to PV and consider this an excellent location and property for a home base. Resort style amenities were also exceptional. Pool is a little shallow as one reviewer pointed out, but who's diving in anyway. Beach not as beautiful as Mismaloya but also not remote and far away from everything. Walk to town is easy, but remember very hot in August. Taxi's cheap $., buses easy to catch and cheap = cents, but bumpy ride. On-site restaurants a little pricey but excellent in taste and service (check out the Sunday brunch, Fiesta feel). Many great restaurants in Downtown and Zona Romatica; only a 5 min. taxi ride. Would definitely consider another stay; hopefully soon.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The service was very good, rooms were kept clean and the staff was very polite and helpful, the location of the hotel is another plus. We are looking forward to make it here next summer again.

My friend booked 2 suites for us 8 girls!! We stayed in the timeshare wing (a little old-fashioned) but nonetheless comfortable. Upon arrival at the airport, we asked the driver to take us to Costco (yes, COSTCO!!) which is on the way to the hotel and we bought groceries, BEER, mixers and Vodka for the week. The kitchenettes at the hotel are fully stocked with pots, pans, fridge, microwave, utensils and plates. It was nice to make our own food and drinks. TIP: Wash your own dishes or you will be charged about $1 per plate. A cab is only $4 USD into "El Malecon" (downtown strip) where you can find a few nightclubs. The best we found was "MANDALA." It was a very swanky place with a lit dancefloor and plasma screens playing up to date music videos. During the week we laid by the pool and take in some PV sun. The staff is friendly and the drinks at the pool bar are great. We recommend the "Coco Loco" which is a large coconut filled with it's own juice, ice and some type of liquor. About $8 USD. We also booked a couple tours. TIP: Go on a Timeshare Meeting so you can get EXCELLENT DISCOUNTS on tours. Even if you don't buy a timeshare (like we didn't), they'll treat you to breakfast and give you the discounts. Through this we booked "Outdoor Adventure - Canopy's Big Brother" for about $67 USD. This is offered by a company called Vallarta Adventures. THIS IS THE GREATEST TOUR I HAVE DONE IN MY LIFE!!! It is a MUST! Oh, and DO NOT do the BEACH BOY Tour. It was the worst and very disorganized. We found that Vallarta Adventures' tours were way more professional and curteous. Have fun!
Very disappointing hotel

I had several uncomfortable and sleepless nights at the hotel because of the high level of humidity. At times, it was dryer outside then inside! (My friend's passport is completely wrinkled by the humidity inside the room). I complained several times and asked for a dehumidifier but the staff did not do anything to address the issue. The staff was not particularly friendly and diligent (the concierge was very lazy). My friends and I picked the hotel because the pictures of the 2 swimming pools looked great. However, when we showed up, one of them was closed for construction.
Sheraton Buganvilla Exceeds Expectations

This was our first trip to Puerto Vallarta. The Sheraton Buganvilla exceeded our expectations:
1) Convenient location at the beginning of the hotel zone, about 15 minutes from the airport by taxi; 5 minutes by taxi to Malecon and downtown areas; about 10 minutes by taxi to the marina area. We walked to and from the Malecon one morning and evening - felt very safe and it took about an hour at a leisurely pace (shopping along the way). Taxi fares are set and average $4-$5 a ride, taxis are clean and most drivers spoke a little English.
2) Friendly, knowledgable staff; excellent room - very clean with a balcony and gorgeous view of the pool and ocean; we arrived at noon and our room was ready by 12:45 pm; excellent pools - very clean, a bit crowded but it was Spring Break - be sure to reserve a chair early if you plan to spend the day by the pool. There's a time share building also but other than a gentle, initial invitation that we politely declined, we were not hassled at all to "join"; all the timeshare facilities - pool, gym and restaurants - were available to hotel guests, also.
3) Beach is pretty but you have to walk through small rocks to get to the water.
4) Our only regret was we were unable to spend more time enjoying the hotel/resort other than sleeping and a few hours by the pool as we were visiting our son who lives there and he had lots of touring and activities planned for us. We would definitely stay here again.
