What a blast! The entertainment staff was great, they kept everything fun and upbeat! Being there for 5 nights, the food did get kinda hum-drum, but that was the least of my worries. I recommend eating at the Marco Polo. The beach was beautiful and very well kept. My room was impeccably clean. They kept our little fridge well stocked, we just jotted down what we wanted from the cleaning staff and they made it happen. The staff as a whole was very courteous and always helpful. The bartenders make wonderful frozen drinks, I highly recommend the "tropical storm" . I met wonderful people from all over the US and even Germany! Everyone seemed rather happy with their choice of this resort. When we initially arrived, the time share people attempted desperatly to sell us a time share, but my brother and sister in law had previously vacationed at the other solaris and promptly told them we were not interested and they then left us alone. Although after staying there, I may actually be interested in buying in. We actually booked there by mistake and were really glad that our mistake turned out to be a good one! I gather that due to the economy and swine flu scare the guest census was pretty low. I highly recommend GR Solaris to anyone traveling to Cancun, it was by far my best vacation in my 34 years. The only thing I really didn't like was the language barrier with some of the food service workers, but thats only because I don't speak spanish and shoulda got a spanish translation book. Oh and I was stupid enough to buy a pair of sunglasses from a beach seller and they broke within 2 days. Both reasons, my issues. Thumbs UP! LOved it

We stayed at this hotel over the long Memorial Day Weekend for 4 nights. Our goal was to sit in the sun and relax - nothing more. We accomplished that for sure. Some information that might help others. That weekend, this was the only Solaris opened, everyone who booked elsewhere was transferred to this Resort. And even at that, it wasn't full. We mainly stayed at the Adult Pool and it was nice - but not crowded. Met quite a few nice people who were friendly. The staff is great and does come around the adult pool to take orders for drinks and deliver them. The food is another thing - it is average at best. Only one place opened for breakfast - it is a buffet - but has everything including bloody mary's and mimosas. One place opened for lunch and it is by the pool. They do allow you to take a plastic plate and take it to the pool area to eat. Then for dinner, you can either eat at the buffet/show restaurant or make a reservation for Marco Polo. You are allowed room service with the all inclusive package. We didn't really want prime eating just the R&R, so we were more than happy. Had sun everyday and really had fun. Would come again for the price. Just be firm with the TImeshare people when you first get there and tell them you are NOT interested or you will waste many hours of one day dealing with the HARD SELL.

We were at the GR Solaris in April 2009. This was our first time to Cancun and were amazed at the beauty of the beach. The GR Solaris was very nice and clean. Food was average to say the least but there was always something to pick to eat. Rooms were very clean and neat. We were pulled into the time share/vacation program and even bought into it. We cannot wait to return to Cancun.

We were there over Cinco de Mayo during the swine flu scare and the hotel was great!! There was non-stop cleaning going on and everyone was really nice and happy to have us there. The room was great. The only complaint that we had was that every once in a while the door for the stairs which is a heavy metal door would slam shut, was a little loud. Food was ok, everyone should be able to find something to eat from all the different restaurants, buffets, etc. Abraham was a great bartender at the pool bar. Tip and get the better booze. Adult quiet pool is nice for a down day. Vey happy and will go back. Weren't bothered at all when we made it clear that we had no interest in the timeshares at check in. Some others there said that the sister hotel is better, but we really enjoyed this one.
Still sunburned!!

I read the bad reviews when booking this hotel and kinda cringed when I made my final decision to go here. Hoping the price wasn't the only alluring aspect for me and that the good out weighed the bad. It did!!
I went with my best friend and her and I spent 6 amazings days at the GR Solaris. We couldn't have been happier. I have never felt more welcomed anywhere I have been. Staff and fellows guests included.
There is a great mix of guests from spring breakers to familys with young children. I never felt like I was in a day care nor did I feel I was in party central.
I agree with a couple reviews that the beds could be softer. But ask for a pillow top! Ask for anything because they will go out of their way to make it happen. Don't like what's in your minibar? ASK! Need pillows? ASK!
Food was good, drinks were good, reservations were quick and painless to make for dinner when needed. You couldn't walk five feet without seeing someone cleaning. We were never pressured about any time share nonsense. Buses run 24 hours and stop right in front of the hotel. 24 hour room service was fantastic. Check in and out was quick and efficient. Could do without the tan line from the bracelet you wear the entire time. lol The beach did suffer when the hurricane hit but it's still more than enough. Be aware of the flags. Lifeguards do a very good job. Make sure to ask for an umbrella if you can't find one!!! Pools are amazing.
Don't let any bad reviews turn you away from this great experience!! I will be there again in FEB '10! You won't want to leave, I promise!
