We stayed at the BBG and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The beds are pretty stiff, but I didn't mind at all -- I prefer harder beds. My wife didn't like the beds too much, though. Everything was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn't have any problems with odd smells (mildew, mold, etc.) or ants or cockroaches.
Bartenders are great and entertainment is fun and funny. Tips go a long way. We tipped a lot, and the staff were very appreciative and treated us very nicely the entire time we were there.
The tours are great - we ended up drinking too much and missed one, but the people in the lobby rescheduled it for us the next day - no questions asked. Chichen Itza is amazing and beautiful, but be prepared for a full-day trip, because it's quite a ways away.
We're already planning our next stay this year!

GREAT FOR $200 AND LESS! AVOID TIMESHARE OFFER!

You must avoid the time share offer! What a total hassel! When they greet you they will give you this informative packet and tell you to come back the next morning for a "tour" of the place! Be aware this is a "time share" tour! Just like every time share you will be pressured for about 2+ hours to buy! I sort of enjoyed the yelling back and forth but my wife could care less! If you can stay there for less than $200 it is well worth it! I would stay there again but avoid the time share!

Basically, if you are a down to earth person, and want to go to a beautiful resort to have a lot of fun and meet new people, Temptation Resort and Spa is it!!
You can't beat the price and the renovations are almost finished, and were done very nicely. The resort is clean, the staff is friendly and helpful...the bartenders are a lot of fun, the activities draw most everyone in, and the cast is hysterical.
We only ate at the Italian resturant, which was excellent, and had the buffet the rest of the time. You can always find something satisfying at the buffet...loved the scalloped cheese potatoes!!
The hotel has outings to clubs every nite...its best to go with them on a bus...you get right in, and Coco Bongo is a must if you only do one club outing.
A cab ride downtown to the clubs are $20 incl tip, but we found it was just as fun at our resort, we hardly ever left. We are planning to go back soon, and will try some tours...hear they are all great.
We had an awesome time and would reccommend to everyone = )

Before me and my husband left for Cancun, I did read that the hotel was under contruction. I just didn't realize how extensive it was. When we drove up to the hotel it was unrecognizable with all the work men and boards---we actually had to get out of the travel van and walk around all of the construction with our luggage.
We had a room with a king bed but it was on top of two twin box springs. The room smelled like strong Mildew. My husband wanted to get scented candles but I told him that it would just smell like fragrance and strong mildew. The bathroom was so small that the bathroom door hit the toilet. The food was ok. On the second night of our stay, my husband let me sleep because I was tired and he woke me up around 9pm. We got ready and went out around 9:55pm to have dinner but none of the cafeterias were open. Only the two fine dining restaurants were open but you needed a reservation. Apparently, the all night cafeteria is closed for remodeling, but no other cafeteria stays open past 9:45pm. I do have to say we received a free pass for the asian restaurant and it was wonderful.
As far as construction, they never stopped working. They were even working on Sunday when we left. We tried to get past some work men on our way to the front desk and ended up knocking down a light that they had jimmy rigged on the ground.
Sometimes it was hard to communicate with the hotel staff because they could barely understand what we were saying in english. I wasn't mad about that but it would have been helpful to know some basic spanish.
