Better than expected!

We recently went to the Royal Solaris Cancun and had a wonderful time. Everyone was very helpful and treated us like royalty. We were not expecting much based on the fact that it seemed cheaper than other resorts. We enjoyed the food and were pleased with the variety and options. The breatkfast buffet had everything imaginable and then some with stations for waffles, pancakes, french toast (which I ate daily) and omlettes. The nicer restraunts were fun to get dressed up and go to and always had a chicken and streak option along with other seafood. The beach was great and we enjoyed the waves. We were shocked at all the people around the pool when the beach seemed like a much better option to us. There are lots of options for excursions, which we took part in. It's very easy to arrange the excursions once arriving at the hotel. I believe the hotel claims to have snorkling equipment, but there is no good location to snorkel. We paid and went on a boat and had a great time. Other reviewers have commented on the musty smell... I agree there was a smell, but it did not bother us. We didn't spend much time in the room. Take lots of sunscreen... we got burnt and had to spend $17 for another bottle when we ran out. We also got massages at the hotel. They were wonderful, but somehow my husband and I were under the impression we were getting a couples massage for $144, but that was for each massage. We were shocked, but it was wonderful anyway. The hotel is close to the airport, so that was nice for being dropped off first and picked up last. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I would love to go

It was a nice place...

We booked this trip last minute for a Garden Room Delux all inclusive at $***/night. It was well worth the price. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. The pools and beach were excellent. However, the pools are not heated and the hot tub temperature is not set high enough (it is a luke warm tub). The food was just o.k....purely average. For the price the alcohol was reasonable, but not a wow. The place is clean and we were happy...just remember if you expect the Ritz Carlton stay at the Ritz Carlton. If you are looking for a clean, nice place, with nice pools and beach...this is well worth the price.

Would never stay again

We chose this resort after chatting on line along with many emails and phone calls to celebrate my Father's 80th Birthday who is in a wheelchair and needs handicap facilities. We were assured he would be able to get around and it would be a good experience since none of us have ever been to Cancun. Little did we know the bathroom was not handicap friendly but we were assured it was with a bar in the shower but there was a step to get in the shower and no bars around the toilet and the wheelchair could not get in the bathroom w/o taking the door off! It was a complete nightmare and loud parties all day with "adult" drinking games and music to interrupt the quiet relaxing vacation/celebration we thought we were going to have. They even told us we could have a Birthday cake and ended up with a piece of chocolate cake! Would never go back to the resort or any related resort to them.

Based on other reviews, we booked this resort....Bad Mistake!!!! Very Musty smell in Hall as soon as we got off the elevator to the room itself. Bed looked like a "seedy" place with paper thin bedding and all crushed. Thanks to a fellow named X, we got to move to the "sister" resort, the GR Solaris that same day, without even unpacking, thanks to him for saving our vacation! Pay a little more...you will not be staying at a less then 2 Star place. I have been to Cancun and Riviera Maya 5 times...first time have I been totally disappointed by reading the reviews! Beware of this property if you travel somewhat....

Great TIme!

Hotel was very nice. Moderate, but clean. Very friendly staff. Having access to the marina across the street and ability to use the kayaks included in price was nice. Beach was nice, not too crowded. Food was good, lots of choices. No complaints at all. Will return next year.
