we stayed there feb 22 to march 1 2009. Looking for a inexpensive vacation. this hotel more than exceeded our best expectiions. The food was incredible and plenty of it in all varities. The staff went out of there way to please you. Very clean hotel, beach was a little rocky in spots but still very nice.even though all inclusive the dollar tip here and there goes a long way to being paid attention to. But overall we would go there again and again. We had three couples in all and all had the same reviews.

Just got back from a 3night 4day trip...Hotel was nice, the only complaint is the shower went from cold to hot in spurts, but other than that it was good! Would def stay there again. Just remember the food is different in Mexico so it was just ok, the nice restraunts were good. Its about a 15 min bus ride to downtown Cancun, so its not the "party party" hotel but it was fun and relaxing ! Rooms were clean and staff was nice !
Front desk terrible and nit helpful!

The Royal Solaris is in a beautiful location. The bartenders were great. The waitresses in the Lobby Bar played favorites---if you tipped them big, they would always serve you. They walked by a us many times. The waitstaff in the restaurants were amazing. Veneto's and Bogavantes' were always delicious! The front desk however continued to be rude and nit communicate with one another. When we arrived, they gave us keys to our room. We went to our room, it wasn't cleaned! There were half drunk beers on the table and cigarette buts in the ashtray! Check in, mind you is at 3 pm--we did not get to the hotel until 5:30! Plus the room smelled strongly of cigarrette smoke and I had requested a nonsmoking room. I went down too the front desk, explained that I requested a nonsmoking room, they said they could not guarantee that since I booked through an online travel website so they made me pay $30 to get into a nonsmoking room for the night! In addition, I was traveling with a friend so we had requested 2 double beds--this bed had a king. They promised me the next morning, they would give us two double beds nonsmoking.. between the hours of 8-10. The next morning, I called the front desk--the man I spoke to said he didn;t know what I was talking about. He said he could not get us a room until after 3:00! We got so frustrated we said forget it and stayed in that room the 4 days. Also we thought we had misplaced our room deposit key-- I called the front desk and the man very rudely told me I would have to pay $100 to replace it...Every time I went to thw front desk to get change, (to tip the waiters)--they never

The hotel was not as clean as I would have expected. The hallway on the floor we were on had a terrible smell that hits you the minute the elevator door opened. The room was ok. The food was not very good. There should be more restaurants open at the same times. You didn't have any options for breakfast. We had no interaction with hotel staff at all. Letters were left under our door in the middle of the night if there was an issue or the hotel needed something from us. We had requested connecting rooms or rooms on the same floor as the couple we were traveling with but our request was not honored. Upon check in I was told that they would move us if something became available.
Just OK...

We just returned from Royal Solaris and it was our first trip to Cancun. With our 2 kids the all inclusive was nice for us... but too much free alcohol for many of the guests there! It is not even spring break yet, but some of the "more mature" adults were acting like it was their spring break and it was not a good atmosphere for the kids. There were not many kids there and we did not see the "family friendly" aspects of the resort. However, the beach was very nice, staff were mostly friendly, and the food was ok. We also ended up up-grading to a balcony room with "hot tub" and it was well worth it! Overall, not a great resort, but with some renovations could be a nice place. I would recommend the GR for a little nicer and quieter place.
