When you first get there, you will be pleasantly surprised as to how relaxing that everything seems to be; word of warning however--above everything else, MAKE SURE to IGNORE any and all requests to "see our new properties" or "we will show you how to return while you are saving money greatly". What these charlatans have planned for you is to take your Visa or MC "only to see if it is current" and basically blackmail you into a couple of hours of timeshare crap for something that is not even built. DON'T FALL FOR IT!!! Lord knows what I would be fighting with now had I not grabbed the paper out of the lady's hand with all of my private info on it!
On a better note, the Hotel is very nice with beautifully painted rooms, and the pools are simply wonderful. The buffet is great, esp. at breakfast, and the bartenders are just very helpful. We felt like we were leaving behind new friends the last day. The only exception to pleasantness would be with about 1/2 of the front desk staff, who are each in on the time share scam. WATCH YOUR WALLET!!! Three separate staff members at the front desk admitted to my wife that they get "points", and then cash if they can lure guests to the trap.
Another bit of advice; if you are wanting to take a trip to Isla Mujeres (go absolutely), or to Playa del Carmen, don't book it with anyone. Just go by city bus to the "embarcadero" and buy your own $ ferry ticket, or go to the downtown bus station and for $ each way, you can buy an upscale bus ticket. The "agents" in the lobby will magically come up with a price of $!
Awesome Beach!!

Hotel is absolutely beautiful! Very quiet and very clean. Had some initial drama due to the hotel placing us in a room that faced a Hut instead of an Oceanfront room. Though 2 hours later and 2 managers later, we were placed in an excellent room. Location, location, location. Just can't beat the clean beach at Grand Coral. The white sand and clear water are sooooo awesome! The hotel actually rakes the sand every nite! Service is excellent at pool & beachside, but no jacuzzi? Restaurants are overpriced $150.00 for lobster! Room service was excellent and reasonable. Remember to ask for 25% off food & bev card. Lots of restaurants, shops and nightlife within a few minutes walk of hotel. Housekeeping was awful only used once. Our personal items were all scatered about and some even on the floor. Didn't want to bother with front desk anymore so just had extra towels brought up daily. The Grand Coral looks like a 5 star hotel but some of the services are definitely well below that mark.
Best vacation in years!

The location is perfect (very close to shopping, restraunts night clubs, etc.), with ocean on one side and lagoon on the other. The views are spectacular! For the price, I truthfully wasn't expecting much, but the room we stayed in was quite nice and clean. The bathroom isn't an 'afterthought' like in many hotels. Reasonably spacious, with all the amenities. Water pressure was the strongest I've ever seen in a hotel (or anywhere, for that matter, make sure you have good balance grasshopper!). The beds were very comfortable. Don't bother to turn on the tv (why would you in Cancun??)...they don't get any channels.
Nightly entertainment was very tongue in cheek, but I applaud the actors/actresses/dancers for their spirited renditions, and giving themselves wholly to the effort. Very off, off, off, off, OFF broadway kind of fare, but entertaining none the less.
A different type of food is served in each of the restraunts (we tried them all), so there's always something to your liking and it was all 5-star; as appealing to look at as it was to the taste buds. In between meal times, there were plentiful snacks and drinks available so you'll never go hungry (or thirsty)...and it's all included in the nightly rate! Staff are swift, curteous, and treated us like honored guests at all times. Most hassle-free vacation I've ever taken and can't wait to do it again!
First time away without kids!

My husband and I just returned from 5 fabulous days at the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach and just loved it! The hotel is truly 5 star quality and the service and staff are phenomenal. Pool and beach are super and location is convenient to the "strip" and every restaurant you could want in Cancun. Only warning is food and meals and drinks are VERY expensive in hotel, so go take a walk and eat someplace else. Also, there is a jet ski rental place right next store on the beach which can be annoying on weekends due to noise, but otherwise, this place is top notch.

my husband and I dcided to go first class and stay at a 5 star 5 diamond hotel. The fiesta americasna grand coral beach, was pefect. The staff was so helpful and friendly. The hotel maintains top security and is spotless and in top condition. The beach sparkles the pool is surrounded by tropical vegetation, and the bars and retaurants are all top of the line.
Valet parking was free, my husband puchased freshly made hand rolled cigars in the lobby and the music and shows are perfect for a romantic getaway.
We were in walking distance of the 'action" yet we felt as if we were on a secluded island.
The other 5 star hotels JW marrriott and the Ritz carlton are in a different area but I beleive we made the right choice. The vacation was 5 star.
