Absolutely Great!

I was at the Presidente for just shy of a week and loved every minute of it. Thanks to the panic of the flu there was very few people around and when you are looking to relax that is the perfect setting. Loved the hotel and the staff were all very nice, polite and helpful. I did not find any pushy people trying to sell me into tours or anything else, they asked the first day what I was looking for and I told them to just relax and that is exactly what I got. Every time I went down they all greeted me by name. I took advantage of the small supermarket across the road and didn't have much need for the hotel restaurants. I did love the freshness and service I got from the pool restaurant which delivered very fresh fruit and seafood the couple of times I ate there. The view from my room could not have been better and I loved the way the groundskeepers work nonstop to have everything looking so neat and beautiful. I even loved the 'iguanas' that live in the middle of the landscape!! I can't say I would stay there again... I will say I'm definitely staying there the next time, because after this my first visit there, i'm definitely going back!
Big Disappointment

The hotel was not worth the money and the service was a big disappointment. The management of this hotel seems to walk in very tight shoes. Only one restaurant was open at a time and the selection was quite limited. However the breakfast was excellent.
We did nit touch anything in the mini bar, but they still charges us for the 2 bags of coffee they had left next to the coffee maker. The transportation costs for the airport shuttle bus was announced to be $9.00 but we were charges $33.00 from the airport to the hotel and $24.00 from the hotel to the airport. The servants at the breakfast buffet were nice and polite, but the bartenders were flat out rude. The liquor selection was quite limited although I noticed a bottle of Crown Royal. When I ordered a Crown Royal on the rocks I was told that this could not be served as it was import. However, when the bartender was told that I of course would pay for it and that I was not an all inclusive customer I was served and paid &22.00 for the shot. The beach and the service at the beach chairs were good with polite waiters, but everything was overpriced. Although it is not announced in the brochure or at the website, this hotel is for All Inclusive Visitors.
This is our last trip to the Intercontinental Presidente in Cancun.

We went with our family, including 2 kids, 2 years and 4 years old and this place is great.
Excellent pools, excellent service, great beach, great food...no doubt about it.
It is a nice location, walking distance for some places....nice area.
We got a great room with ocean view.
Take it, trust me !!!

The presidente is well worth the moderate cost. We only stayed for four days but will certainly return. The beach is very wide, powder white sand and water only chest deep at 50 yards out- very safe for kids and roped off for added safety. This beach will probably stay unaffected by future storm damage due to the specifics of its protected location. The dozens of large thatch umbrellas and lounge chairs with fixed tables enable food and bar service right out to the sand. Shade or sun without moving at all.
The pools are spotless; the lobby, restaurants and bars elegantly done. There are tour operators in the lower lobby who will sell you trips but they were not pushy; we had rented a car so we simply did our own thing. We did breakfast included (till 11 a.m.) which was better than most buffets -including champagne- the day usually started with more than two! It was well worth the cost. We ate out at larenziellos and limoncellos- two restaurants that rival anything in NY or boulder.
The front desk didn't have our room ready on arrival so with a few drinks on the house at the beach bar we waited a half hour while our BETTER ROOM/ocean view was prepared- no additional cost. Our car was at our disposal within minutes- yes, you should tip.
The flight crews also stay here- they must know where the best places are. It is not a loud 20 something place- for that there are many other hotels. If you are into relaxing this is a true value. It is a gem.

it's a very nice and clean hotel with a very friendly and helpful staff. The beach is gorgous, with white sand and, what was very important to me, calm water. There were no strong waves so you can relax and sit /literary/ in the water.
I will come back there.
ps.There is a supermarket right across the street from the hotel with very resonable prices.
Tulum is A MUST. Unforgettable place.
