Loved the pool side canopied beds!

It was our first time at an all inclusive resort and we loved it. The check-in was a bit long and confusing, but they brought us drinks and that helped a lot. We loved our room, the bed was comfortable and the shower was huge and it was all clean. Our housekeeping staff, friendly and competent. We used room service a couple times and were happy with that. The food was mostly good and we enjoyed the variety available. They brought fresh fruit around the pool area in the afternoon and there were lots and varied activities to do or not. The entertainment in the evening was good and yes, the drinks were a little weak, but I think that's a good thing at an all inclusive. We have recommended Real Resorts to everyone and are coming back in Jan. 08 with two other couples.

What Can I Say?....

The hotel was verrry busy upon arrival. I was with a party of 4. Our first room was horrible, located in the older part of the hotel. No air worked...old smelly room. However, we complained enough to be upgraded to the newer part of the hotel for a minimal charge. The food on the buffet wasnt all that great. When we discovered the restaurant upstairs...we were in heaven. The drinks were watered down...I mean this literally. But the staff and the atmosphere of the hotel in general was ok. It is truly not a 3 1/2 star hotel...I would go back to stay if it were one of my last choices. BEWARE of the staff and other hotel guests when it comes to your luggage...my luggage was stolen from the hotel the day that I checked out!!!!

Upon arrival at hotel, desk clerk not attentive, but we knew that. They put us in a standard room with two double beds, Wrong. Went and told them we had a Jr Ste, tried to put us in a modified room, door broken, wouldn't open. Finally put us in a real Jr Ste in OLD section but we had corner room with lagoon view(sunset). NOT anything like picture on web site. No beach to speak of, also unlike picture on web site. But the drinks and food were good. My daughter is vegan and only options were veggies and salad and fruit. Same thing over and over. Great entertainment, lots of activity. Diez Y Seis party was great. My beef with GCR was lack of vegetarian options, old room with bad A/C that never was fixed, No beach and the mgmt lack of response. The service was excellent at bars and restaurant and beach. I will stay at Playa Del Carmen next time.

One of the best places I've stayed.

Chech was smooth althouhg it took a while. Not enough reps to handle the incoming crowd. My overall experience was good/ I had read previous reviews about this resort some were good some not so good. But for someone who has traveled often this was one of the best places I have stayed. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I think that when people travel to foreign countries there is to much of a comparison to the USA, butr you have to remember that you are in a another country(when in Rome...). Food was excellent. Although I heard some complaint about the food I think it was great. I may be a little biased because I am a Chef but we were in Mexico and yuo got Mexican food. Their buffets were bountiful. Some people complained about having the same food everyday but when you only have Beef, chicken, porkand fish(same food int the US) and have it everyday for breakfast lunch and dinner this may seem to be redundant but in the US you only get one of these proteins for each meal. I was happy to have these choices. Didn't order room service wasn't in the room long enough. Best pool spots were taken early in the a.m. but there was not any trouble getting a spot. Drinks were good. I had my fill of the margaritas. One last thing .STAY AWAY FROM THE VACATION CLUB DEMO. It was a high pressure sales pitch to get you to buy one of the rooms at the New resort next door. They say they are not a timeshare but it is just like one the only difference being that in timeshare you get aapartment type place where here you are paying for a ROOM with the amenities of a hotel.

Upgraded to Royal Cancun

We elected to upgrade to the Royal Hotel next door. It cost and additional $20 pp per night but worth every penny! Staff is friendly and helpful. Not pushy with the time share pitch. All inclusive is the way to go. Each room has a stocked bar and fridge with soda and bottled water that is restocked every day, they all have ocean views. Maid service was twice a day. There are some sand bags on part of the beach but the rest of the beach is fine. It is a great place to stay for just the 2 of you. Adults only. We would definitely stay at any Royal again. Please email any questions.
