About the beach, there's plenty of room on the sand for everyone where one could either relax under thatch umbrellas or strike up a game of beach volleyball. Bodysurfing was pretty popular here since you could find decent waves pretty much anytime of the day. (The waves brake a bit close to the shore, but it's still a good time.) No jellyfish or much kelp while we were there and the water is crystal clear.
As far as the accommodations, you don't necessarily go to this particular resort for the rooms, but if that is a sticking point for you, they do have other resorts that have outstanding rooms...depending on the 'theme' you want, you could go to Moon Palace, Xhu-Pa palace...I didn't see any rooms at Sun or Beach Palace, so I can't comment on those.

The resort is seriously something out of a movie scene. You drive up and are greeted with champagne and a how-do-you-do attitude. We had a small problem with our booking, and the staff was quick to not only fix the problem but make sure we had no other issues for the remainder of our trip. The pool and beach were our main hang-outs. Like I said, our husbands set their watches to the water volleyball tournaments and allowed us to lie by the pool. The activity staff had something going on all the time. We aren't the typical activity group but found ourselves captivated by the games. My husband, normally a stand-on-the-side kind of guy, was quickly volunteering for dance contests, Mr. Cancun, and horse races. Floor shows and fantastic food just added to our fantastic experience. If you like cruise ships but hate cruising, this is the place to go. A cruise without the boat! Well done, Cancun Palace!

It's easy to get around, the workout room is nice, and not hard to find, and the setup for tours, visits to other Palace Resorts, and transportation to other places is convenient. The pool and beach areas are large and well maintained, with plenty of seating for relaxing and soaking up the rays.
One nifty feature was a small tiki hut where massages (by appt. only) were done- it added to the relaxing atmosphere. Overall, Cancun Palace is beautiful, comfortable, and lots of fun. The food is fabulous, also!!

The hotel is very comfortable. Not upscale, but very nicely set up. We felt at home immediately. The staff is great, genuinely friendly and helpful. They stole our hearts when we arrived at the desk to check in and they served us a glass of champagne!
The room was comfortable, but not luxurious by any means. We had an ocean-view balcony, which was very nice. On the two windy nights we were there, the wind whistled through the sliding glass doors, which was slightly annoying, but overall, not a problem. We definitely want to return to Cancun Palace on a future trip, we felt so comfortable, I imagine it will be our "base camp" on a lot of future visits.

Our room was a good size with 2 double beds and lots of cupboard space. The bathroom was clean, if a wee bit cramped. Fortunately, the sink is in the outer room so that makes things a little easier.
The best part was these little towel origami that the housekeeping staff do .... I think we have a photo of each one that was done for us!
The hotel staff are superb - friendly and efficient. We did have one complaint when there was a godawful hammering coming from the elevator outside the room at 2 in the morning ... one call to the front desk and not 5 minutes later we could sleep in peace again. And we got a bottle of champagne and some chocolates by way of apology!
Not the fanciest place, but with a city like Cancun outside, why would you want a 5* hotel room?!
P.S. not sure about the price as we had a package deal incl. flights, etc.
