Decent, but not great.

I have stayed in Mexico several times, at the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach and the ME by Melia. My favorite by far is the Fiesta Americana, and the Aqua would definitely be my least favorite. The rooms are very posh and up to date with flat screen TVs ,very comfortable beds, and an awesome view. The bathrooms were very nice as well, however lacked a blow dryer and also a step stool area for women to shave their legs while showering. We had ants in our trash can after our first night there from a granola bar wrapper, and once we brought this to the front desks attention, they upgraded us free of charge to a suite. The breakfast buffet was good, however the food at the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach was 10 times better in taste and variety. Food always seemed to run out, and it took a while for the food to be replaced. One day, I ordered a fried egg, and the egg yolk was red/orange which was very strange-needless to say I didn't eat it. The food at the pool was decent, but not great. The service at the pool, however was good. The workers always laid the pool towel down on the chair for you and made sure the umbrella was exactly where you wanted it. There were A LOT of screaming kids which I could've done without. The concerige desk had gotten a taxi for us one night to go to Pericos for dinner and upon getting there it was closed. We had to pay $30 USD round trip for the taxi, and the concerige did not want to refund us however she recommended for us to eat there. Overall-nice stay, but the Fiesta Americana & ME are better choices in my opinion.

This place is amazing!

From the moment we walked in we felt like royalty. It was my boyfriends birthday and they went above and beyond to make it special. The aromatherapy in the lobby is amazing. We also enjoyed the choices of aromatherapy in our room. They give a very good currency exchange rate so unless you are planning to get money out of an ATM, I would suggest converting your money at the front desk here. The staff is super friendly and the rooms were very clean. We used the in-room safe for our passports and extra money and had no problems. The food was a bit expensive. There is a mall across the street, La Isla, that has good restuarants and has bottled water that is much cheaper than what the hotel offers. There wasn't much for us to do there at night though. We found the pool table on the pool level one night but that was about it. The La Isla closed early so we had to either take a bus or taxi to the areas that were open. Could have been the time of year we were there and that it wasn't very busy that caused there to be less activities. Even with that, I would stay here again and again! It was as close to perfect as we could imagine.

Wow! Quality Place to stay!

This is a really nice, quality hotel. Beautiful pools, great service, friendly staff. We would go back there next week if we could. Views from the rooms are fantastic. Very nice beach with great waves. Wonderful gym to work off all of the weight from eating all the fantastic food! Geat deal for the money. We would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Beautiful Hotel but....

This was a great hotel. My husband and I went to cancun in September for our 8th anniversary.Well as soon as we got to our hotel they were trying to get us to upgrade and also sell us time shares,so be carful. This was two whole days of them calling our hotel and leaving unwantd messages about discount cards and such.If you do stay here it is nice and has friendly staff but you have to pay for EVERYTHING!!!!My recomendation if your planning to stay in Cancun is to stay at an All-inclusive.Be sure to check out Chitchen Itza and use all the coupons you can find because it is expensive!! Also there is alot of construction going on there so be aware..next time were going to stay at Playa del Carmen!!!..I hope you find this helpful....

It was real and good, but it wasn't real good.

Upon arrival, when checking in, we were told that construction was being done on both sides of the building. We were not informed of the constuction prior to our reservations. So therefore , our rooms that we originally reserved were going to be disrupted by hammering to say the least. Thankfully the staff was very accommodating and upgraded us to the 5th floor level that had the club ammenities. The adult pool area was very noisey, with the construction being right over the pool. Still had a great time by the adult pool. To many kids without supervision by parents did not mix with adults trying to enjoy the soothing atmosphere of the water sounds and music. But Aqua is a beautiful resort with incredible views and very personable staff, we will return after the constuction is complete, hopefully finished in the near future. The food and room service was very good and the 5th floor concierges were great, very helpful with recommendations for activities and resturants.
