Not Your Standard Cancun All Inclusive

When we were planning a trip, we wanted our hotel to be a quiet getaway. After looking at several tropical destinations, we picked Cancun very hesitantly. We were worried that public beaches and a constant party atmosphere would make it hard to relax, but we were tempted by the low flight prices. Now, we couldn't be happier with our decision. Admittedly, Elan is on the lagoon and not the ocean, but the views are equally beautiful and for those who like finding sand in strange places, it's an easy walk across the street to the public beach. Because Elan is on the lagoon, the beach there is private---no vendors waking you up with offers for cheap silver. Also, because Elan is adults only, there are no screaming kids to kick sand in your face as they run by. Unlike many of the large all inclusives that look no different than a standard American resort, Elan is a collection of smaller, villa style buildings surrounded by lush and colorful landscaping that gives the feel of a small village. The staff were very friendly with great attention to detail, and they really went to the extra mile to satisfy us. What we enjoyed most about the resort was the food. Every meal was perfect. While it was the off season and only a few of the restaurants were open, the menus changed every day, and every bite, from the main course to the sides, was heavenly. The pool bar was also very convenient, serving, for example, Absolute instead of the lower quality vodka served by other all inclusives. We did find a few mosquitos when we stayed out late, but they weren't limited to the lagoon side or to Elan. Overall, it was an amazing trip and we can't wait to return.

The staff was outstanding, food was fabulous and it was a quiet out of the way location with easy access to the bus system. We would stay there again!

Romantic and very quiet!

This is a beautiful resort and very close to the airport. They just opened up after a major renovation and what a place. It is very dfferent than all the other hotels because it?s built like a Mexican Village. The grounds are magnificent with floral, shrubs and trees, and each room is unique. The first thing I should tell you there are over 250 rooms and only two were occupied. There was a full staff and did they cater to us. My wife and I were the only ones there after two days but did we enjoy it. Anything we wanted or needed, the staff was there for us. In a few months when everyone finds out about Elan, we can say we were there when we had the place to ourselves. The spa is wonderful and check out the full menu on line to see the different treatments they offer. It is a ten mnute drive to La Isla, the largest mall in Mexico. We went and swam with the dolphins right at La Isla, which was the biggest thrill in the world. We reccomend to do the trainer for a day because you spend all day there and get to feed the sharks as well as teach, swim and play with the dolphins. It was well worth the $240.00 per person compared to over $100.00 for just one hour. The bus takes you anywhere on hotel row but we rented a driver for the time we were there. When we come back to Cancun, we can?t wait to stay at Elan Resort!
