No Fiesta Americana for Us, Thank-You

What a dump. It's such a small resort. Who decided to give this place a 4.5 star rating. Whoever it was, they were not American, that is for sure. When I think of a 4.5 star resort, I think of luxury, and this is not luxury by any means. The place is really, really old. 1 Swimming pool for kids.....4 feet deept at most. The rooms smell of mildew. It was disgusting. Oh, the lobby is open and pigeons kept flying in and out, and leaving you what behind. Disgusting. I think next time, we're going to the Caribbean. Better times at Aruba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands. Not so much poverty, and so many beggers on the street. I you want a smelly place to vacation, Puerto Vallarta is it.

Look, the place is not your typical 4 Star American Resort. But you would think it was a 5 star based on their prices. There was one swimming pool for the entire resort, and trying to find a spot was nearly impossible. Bar drinks at $5.00 a pop. Dinner - $150.00 and not anything extraordinary. They will nickle and dime you, becareful. I must say, the Bay of Banderas was spectacular, and the Malecon, Wow!!!! good times, but I would rather have been at some Caribbean Island.

Fiesta Americana not for us

My husband and I were so excited to be taking a vacation during this economy. We had the highest expectation of Fiesta Americana, but we were too quick to judge. The entrance and the open lobby area; marble floors, and descending stairs to the pool were all terrific, but this was only a facade. Our actual experience when we entered a room that felt like a sauna. Evidently the air conditioning ran on a timer, which means the hotel actually controls the air conditioning system. I was awed by the frugality of this seemingly beautiful place. During the middle of the first evening we heard people screaming, we thought someone was hurt. My husband jumped out of bed and opened the balcony doors and surely it was a group Locals at the Beach incredibly intoxicated and speaking Spanish ever so loudly. The following day we asked the staff at the front desk for a different room; they declined us. It did not get any better during the week. Puerto Vallarta is seemingly beautiful until you actually get out and start miandering the streets, and then you get hit with the harsh reality of poverty and what that all entails. The streets were full of trash and in 90 degree weather it stinks and badly. I anchored myself to my husband for safety. I felt very unsafe and with good reason. Our first trip to Mexico and sadly we will never return.

Yes sir, Fiesta America was definitely not worth the money. One fair size swimming pool for 290 rooms, simply unacceptable for our standards. There was no way the 8 of us and we could not find any chairs near the pool area. When we did, the darn thing was full of screaming children. We gave up on that idea real soon. The rooms were hot and humid and the air conditioning was not working. propertly. We called the desk to get someone to come up and fix it: 2 hours later the darn thing turned on but the room temperature remained the same. That was Fiesta America, but we managed to find fun elsewhere. We met some other Americans in the hotel and asked about the the are and soon learned our way around. We hit the Malecon for drinks in the evening, and had dinner at various restaurants it that area. Prices were signicantly better than the hotel. There was another incredibly good restaurant called the Portabella, very close to the Marina; Awesome.....

What Can I say about Fiesta America

My arrival at Fiesta America was fine. The concierge and front desk staff were terrific. But nothing went without cost. My room was full of mildew and water stained lamps, and a smell that took my breath away. It was horrific. I was assigned another room which was slightly better, but still below my standards. The air conditioning was not working which made for an incredibly uncomfortable stay. The walls paper thin and you could hear everything, and I mean everything. Overall: Great staff, high prices, poor beach area, and poor security. There were people from other resorts entering the property and using the pool without question. Beyond all, poor people parading up and down the beach, entering the property and waking you to sell you junk... I would never consider Puerto Vallarta during any future stay.
