Don't Stay Here- Clausurado

My nightmare started as soon as I got off the plane and when I was asked what hotel I was going to I was told that Puerto de Luna was (Clausurado). I am not sure what the exact translation is but I believe it is under goverment investigation and all their services are closed. The restaurant is closed, their spa was closed and their bar by the pool was closed, there was garbage where the pool towels are supposed to be and we had to go to the lobby to get our own towels. When I arrived at the hotel there was a huge banned in the entrance of the hotel that is visible from the street (Clausurado). I asked what this meant and I wasn't given a clear answer but was told that it had something to do with their timeshares not paying their dues. I only stayed here one night. I was supposed to have two adjoining rooms but when I was checking in I was told that my two rooms where in two separate buildings even though I had called 3 times confirming that the rooms would be together. They promised me they would give me two rooms together the next day so I agreed. Once I checked in and went into our room and to the pool, I realized that all their services where closed and the pool did not look maintained. I decided I was not going to stay at this hotel. I took a shower and when I got out and was looking for my purse I realized that it was stolen. I went to the lobby and asked that they call the police they said all they would do is ask the security guard to write a report. I called Travelocity and cancel the remainder of my vacation here.

A few brief notes about a disastrous stay:
No towels (nor towel bars);
Dirty sheets;
The hardest "bed" in the world (I've literally slept on top of picnic tables that were more comfortable);
A coffee maker without coffee or filters
The pool was closed
The living room flooded overnight
A telephonic sales call at 8:30 a.m. the next morning for a "vacation club", during which the solicitor instructed me to write out a maintenance request and place it in the suggestion box
Upon checkout, the clerk demanded the for the TV remote control which I was never given
For those of you still reading, consider this: my expectations were extremely low to begin with as I was only looking for a place to sleep one night. However, this experience was so negative, that I will never prepay a hotel stay again. I was so thankful that I didn't have children with me or plan to stay more than one night. I later learned that this property used to be apartments and the buildings have been converted to a hotel. The unit was relatively clean (one usually sees some pests in tropical settings), well landscaped, and they were painting the exterior). There are so many viable alternatives in Puerto Vallarta

The garden patio overlooking the pool, the grounds ,watching families as we relaxed and got some down time was marvelous. The time share folks are totally fine with a firm, we are not interested.The lobby staff very friendly. The bus to the Malecon a walk to Giant Grocery,using the kitchen to prepare meals The pool marvelous, families most Mexicans, not a lot of english speaking. We are planning a trip back and will take our two grandkids along this time. Ages 6 and 10 We spent our last night at the Casa Magna and I wished if in PV that I was back at the Puerto De Luna.

" This hotel has the most helpful and friendly employees I have ever come in contact with. We only had to ask and we were assisted immediately with a smile. I would and have recommended this hotel to anyone. The swimming pool is wonderful and sitting outside eating breakfast is a dream come true. It's walking distance to almost everything you might need. Restaurants, shopping, the beach, etc."
