Not what we expected from reading the previous review.

The front desk clerk was friendly. We booked for a King nonsmoking room and got a queen nonsmoking room. There was no breakfast at all. (we checked out just before 7 am as we had to be somewhere at 8:30.) The hotel is near a train track that had several trains throughout the night blowing the whistle loudly. The parking lot was pretty noisy (loud talking etc) until about 11:30 pm, I checked several times looking out the window to see if the rental car was still there.
A good place to lay your head at night

If you know that you'll be out all day and just need a place to sleep, this is a good place to stay. The room was small and so was the shower stall (I'm 6'3" and is made for people 5'10" and shorter). However, they have free coffee at the front of the office and free high speed internet. I will stay there again on my next visit.
Very nice hotel to stay in for the price

The hotel was older but very clean. The staff provided excellent service in housekeeping as well as in the dining room and pool area. Food was varied and delicious. We enjoyed the buffet style of food service where one could go and pick whatever food they wanted from a large variety of food selections. We went all inclusive so our beverages were included in the price of our trip as well as our food and some of our entertainment. The hotel met and far exceeded our expectations as to cleanliness, friendliness and efficiency of staff, availability at the pool and food selections. We would definately return to this hotel for further accommodations and to this city.
Great for the price

You can walk into town, (4 miles) but it's better to take a taxi (about $5). The hotel is located about 3 blocks from the beach, and the beach itself isn't bad. Be careful about signing up for day cruises/atv trips/hikes, from the guys on the beach. If it sounds too cheap to be true, it is. You can find better deals downtown. The rooms are simple, but mostly clean. The pool area is beautiful. The food is ok, but a little overpriced. There is an excellent Cuban restaurant downtown. The zip line tour through La Vista adventures is awesome.
