The service, not hotel, is the high point

We stayed 8 nights in Jan 2009. The towels in the room are stained and worn, so is the carpet in the room. There is nothing extra special about the hotel itself. The conciege is AWESOME, as is the room service, the transportation counter (for renting cars as well as having a driver take you around). The doormen are awesome as well. The front desk leaves quite a bit to be desired. First of all, this hotel charges for EVERYTHING extra (except the complimentary shampoo). Local phone calls were $.90 a minute to cell phones, somewhere around $.45 a minute to land lines. Didn't even bother asking about international calls. They also told us that there was a breakfast/internet/local call package for $*. I asked if that was the total. They said yes. It's actually a daily charge (when you can eat in this city for under $3, I wanted clarification), and the total daily charge was $*. I was also told you could cancel this package anytime (we weren't going to be around a few mornings, and didn't want to pay for something we didn't use). That wasn't true. And local calls to cell phones weren't included either. Upon checkout, we found that we were billed incorrectly, and it took 2 front desk people, a manager, and 20 minutes to get it figured out. The maid service was rather inconvenient as well. If you had the do not disturb sign up, they'd wait until noon or so, before they began calling your room to see when they could stop in. And they didn't speak much english (the maid service), so it was impossible to tell them "not today" or "just towels please". I'd stay here again, but brace yourself for all the additionals they try to force on you.

I stayed for 4 nights with a group and it was an excellent location. Major problems when I checked in with the reservation desk, but once past that a great stay. Good meals, great bar and good facilities. Hot water was available all the time and I would recommend to anyone to stay there.

better even than before

I am continuing to be amazes at how well this hotel continues to get better each time I stay there. The rooms are remodeled and the service is outstanding. Will stay there again when I return in a few months.
