April Vacation

  • April 8, 2008
  • Rated 3 of 5 by a traveler from Travelocity.com
Vacationers, remember the old addage, "You get what you pay for!" If you don't expect much, you won't be so dissapointed, The only things that are really great about this hotel is its location and the bathroom. It is located in the middle of shopping, close to train stations and in walking distance of the Louvre and Notre Dame. The lobby is in desparate need of painting! The walls are filthy! The front desk staff, with the exception of the elderly woman that works the night shift (who is very surly), is very cordial and do a pretty good job of speaking english. The bathroom is very clean. Beware of the elevator, it is treacherous getting out directly onto a steep spiral staircase. It is only large enough for two people, three at the most if you are all thin. It will accomodate 1 person and one large piece of luggage at a time. The rooms are small and the furniture is old. The bed in the room we occupied was very hard and low to the floor. However, the room was fairly quite, it was located on the backside of the hotel. The room service was good, although I did notice that the complimentary shampoo and bath gel bottles appeared to have been reused, most of the writing was missing on the bottles. After seeing the lobby, we thought it best not to try the breakfast. The courtyard they advertise is super small. We were there in April 08 and the only thing in the court yard were boxes of roofing material. Also, although it does not say, there is a charge for using room phone. Free internet in room with wireless lap top.

Great Romantic Hotel

This hotel is in a great spot - its a beautiful neighborhood, two really close metro stops, on good lines that go to all the places you want to see in Paris. There are a ton of places to shop and eat nearby (including a crepe stand on the corner and a market on the weekends). The staff was really nice and accommodating, and room service was quick and high quality. Try to get a room on the first or second floor - the elevator is tiny and not worth waiting for; so less stairs might come in handy after a few trips. We stayed in a double room and it was plenty big for two with a spacious and clean bathroom. All in all a highly recommended hotel.

Hotels in Europe are usually hit-or-miss. This one is in the middle. We booked on Expedia and got a fairly low price, so I think they purposely put us in one of their older rooms; it was very small. We walked by some other rooms that were much larger and nicer. Despite the quality of our room, it was still clean and had a comfortable double bed, TV, and its own bathroom. The housekeeping staff was very thorough, and overall, the hotel is maintained well, but it does not look or feel modern at all. The location is great, near Montparnase Tower and the Metro stop. This makes it very easy to find when walking or taking the subway. There are lots of great shops on the same block and even more within a five-minute walk. If you can afford better, then go for it. But if you just want a clean, safe place to stay in a good location, then this is perfect.

The hotel was alright but nothing special. The room was on the small side but was clean and comfortable. The hotel was a fairly good value. The location was convenient in that it was close to the metro stop. However, the immediate area right around the hotel did not offer anything special.

The hotel staff was friendly but they also didn’t go out of the way either.

There wasn’t anything particularly bad about the hotel, but there wasn’t anything thing that stood out either.
