My Favorite Hotel in India

This is a WONDERFUL place to stay in Jaipur! The family who owns the hotel is friendly, educated, interesting, and knowledgable. The rooms are comfortable and beautiful, and the food on the rooftop restaurant is fantastic. Sitting outside in the morning and sharing puris with the sparrows who live nearby is delightful. The puppet show in the evenings can be a bit noisy (after you've seen it; it's great fun the first time around!) but that's the only drawback I can think of. Ample opportunity to meet other people (if you're like me and like to do that) or not, as is your preferance.
The hotel itself is like a little jewel box, painted and beautiful. Great drivers and travel guides can be arranged through the hotel as well, which is particularly important your first time in Jaipur. I can't say enough good things about the Umaid Bhawan. I will be staying there again.
