A Good Stay in San Jose

  • October 18, 2009

We live in David Panama.
My wife & I stayed with you, at different times, & both of us think they
offer a good place to stay at a good price. We are recommending Hotel
Santo Tomas to friends here are traveling to or through San Jose.

We chose the hotel from their web site. We had to make the trip to San
Jose on short notice. We had never been there & got advise from friends
of where NOT to stay. We did a internet search & their web site convinced
us to try the hotel.

This hotel is a beautifully restored mansion and I fell in love immediately. There were beautiful hardwood floors and a bed so comfortable I felt as though I was at home. Everyday the maid service came and cleaned my room and there was never any cause for distrust or concern for my property in any way. I traveled by myself on this trip and as a single female, I felt incredibly safe at this establishment. It is located downtown and very close to the museums, lovely shopping, and wonderful restaurants. The hotel restaurant is fabulous as well. You can eat there every night and have a different incredible dining experience each time. I highly recommend the shish kabob. I was overwhelmed by how helpful the entire staff was all the time. They spoke good english and helped me to book trips, find restaurants, shopping, whatever my need. I spent a good amount of time around and in the pool area. It was incredibly relaxing to sit by the pool in the morning and enjoy a cup of some of the best coffee I have ever drank in my life and read my book. Every morning breakfast was right on time with the freshest fruit and delicious pastries. My experience at Hotel Santo Tomas was exquisite. I will return to Costa Rica again, and when I do I can't wait to go back and visit my new friends at Santo Tomas.

We spent a week at this charming victorian. Tom is a gracious host and his staff made us feel at home. The food was unbelievable! This was our first time to Costa Rica and we were fortunate to have picked this Hotel for our stay. We HIGHLY recommend this Hotel and it would be hard to match the hospitality of the staff. We are coming back in January '09 and we will book again at this Hotel. Chris & Barbie San Jose, CA

I wished I liked it more.

The staff were super friendly and great, and the restaurant was great - but this is FAR from the airport and the room smelled like mildew :( I wanted to like it much more than I did.
