Normally very easy to please/But this was a disater

Let me start by saying that I travel very often and this was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I will give a sequence of events that will explain this disaster.
1. Had a friend reserve the room through travel online for me a month ahead.
2. Arrived at the airport and was picked up by the hotel van - So obviously they ( the hotel) were aware of my reservation.
3. Got to the fron desk of the hotel and the clerk says yes we have a reservation for you but no proof of payment. I said to him I will rectify this in the morning due to travel online being closed at that time of night.
4. Woke up the next morning went to the front desk to try and get the situation straight
- The front desk girl called travel online and the call took about 27 minutes . After completing the call I was informed that I would have to pay for the call- And the cost was roughly 5 dollars a minute - Total in dollars for the call $179- At this time I thought that the situation was rectified.
5. Woke up the next morning and had a bill under the door of my hotel for the total cost of the room in which I had already paid... Did not have time to argue the point due to having to catch a flight so I had to pay the hotel bill again .. And to make matters worse they included charges from the minibar that I had already paid for to avoid any more disasters.
In general I believe this hotel is corrupt

I stayed at the Intercontinental Cali on vacation in June of 2005 and 2006 with a fantastic experience both times. The staff understands English and is friendly. The dining at the hotel is first rate. The prices have gone up significantly since 2005 and some services like laundry are expensive.

Hotel Intercontinental Cali was wonderful. From the moment of my arrival, the service was outstanding. The room was excellent, especially for the price. The restaurants serve great food and are very reasonable with excellent service. The hotel staff was always available and responsive. Room service and laundry services were excellent and reasonable.

have stayed here several times very close to night life and shopping however room prices have doubled in last three years. A good choice for firts time travelers
