Marriott Staff Great! Hotel too sterile

The Marriott Quito was very much like any other Marriott. If you didn't make an effort to get away from hotel you felt like you were in ANY city. The conceige and front desk staff were very nice but it felt as though they were trying to keep you in the hotel. We were there for one week and obviously wanted to eat elsewhere. The staff was unable to reccommend any restaurants other than their own. The Marriott restaurants were good but expensive and very limited. On the good side the pool is great very warm but nice at night. The massages are also super and very cheap at $40 per 50minutes. The hotel location is actually pretty good if you can get a staff member to help you with a map and directions to the main street. About 6-8 blocks. We walked around during the day and felt comfortable. The hotel would prefer you to take a taxi EVERYWHERE. Another plus was the hotel has cars available for private tours out of town....if was great for going to out of tow to markets, to the equator and any parks. The drivers have limited english and are not really tour guides although they are good drivers.

Great Value for Money!

This is a fantastic hotel with top-notch facilities, friendly and helpful staff, and a general sense of luxury. The bathroom alone is worth the price -- a huge stand-alone tub AND an enormous shower make you feel like you're staying somewhere far fancier, and the bed (crisp white sheets and pillows, amazingly comfy mattress) is divine. The pool is huge and tropical, the breakfast is plentiful, and there's tea and cookies in the lobby every evening. It's a snap to catch taxis from the front door, and the hotel is pretty close to everything in Quito. Would stay here again in a heartbeat -- probably one of the nicest hotels I've ever been to, and definitely the nicest in Quito! Highly, highly recommended.

because i was attending a wedding, we all lodged at this hotel, which is incredibly luxurious by even my american standards but certainly so by local standards. the services here were excellent, the rooms ample and well-appointed, and the bathroom ulta-luxurious with a bathtub that could have slept a family of four. the lobby was filled (and i mean, filled) with explosions of local roses, which, incidentally, are world-renowned for their beauty and fragrance. the hotel also offered lovely swimming pools and a fully-loaded workout facility with spa and massage service. of course, there are other lodging options in town, but for the price, this is a wonderful place to return at night.
