Great Hotel

I went to this hotel for Spring Break during graduate school. I have been on Spring Breaks before and I wasn't looking for a "party hotel" but I wanted something that had a fun spirit and was centrally located around other activities and clubs. This hotel was perfect! The people are so nice and friendly. It is right in the middle of the Zona Dorada and within walking distance of many restaurants and clubs. if you need to go farther (which you likely will because Mazatlan is BIG), the taxis are cheap (around $5 to $8). If you are planning to be at the hotel for a week or more I would suggest paying for the all inclusive stay. I did not do this but my friends did and it paid for itself many times over. Overall, awsome hotel!

Repeat Vacationer

We have been vacationing at CDO every November for 15 years. We call it home away from home. The front desk staff is very friendly & accomodating. We agree that the beds are a little too firm but you can ask for pads for the beds at the front desk and this year they had begun to upgrade the mattresses and we found the new ones to be quite comfortable. The rooms are very clean and the maids are very friendly and we have no complaints about room service. They're very prompt. We recommend the on site dining as well. Food and service are excellent and breakfast is great. We did not haave a good experience at GUS GUS across the street. The drinks are watered down and service was slow. However, the music is usually pretty good. We found a new place to eat a couple of years ago called Los Zarapes. EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!! We agree, this isn't your typical 5-star resort, but the value for the money can't be beat and the atmosphere is unmatchable. It's the best place for catching a glimpse of the "green flash" at sunset.

Food at CDO is not the best! I would recommend eating at GUS GUS (across the street) and Papagayo"s (next door at the Inn at Mazatlan) both are excellent! Gus Gus has a live band at 8:00 and staff is friendly. I also recommend doing the city tour with Vista Tours, ask for X as the tour guide. The Stone island tour is good, but snorkeling is not the best. Overall it was a good stay at the CDO.

Very good service, staff were excellent, pool very nice, excellent location. Only one thing, the beds were a little bit hard. But for the price I would stay again.

A Great Value

Have stayed at this hotel several times. While the beds can be rather firm, the rooms are clean and very reasonably priced. You can request a foam pad for the bed from the desk - sometimes it's available. The pool is my favorite part of the hotel - it's quiet - no constant noise from bingo, games, etc. like the other hotel pools. The maids are very pleasant and the pool staff friendly and attentive. Not too crazy about the time share sales people, but they leave you alone if you give them a firm "no thank you" and walk on. Friends have also stayed here with us and thought it was great for the price. Have already booked another stay!
