Disappointed

We stayed 3/15/08-3/25/08 Spring Break/Holy Week-BIG mistake! Our 1st room was over the street-very noisy- but the front desk gladly moved us to a quieter room. The staff was very pleasant. In our new room the air conditioner's compresser made a loud bang every time it came on, and there was no room safe. We also endured adolescent boys (it was spring break for the national's also) playing soccer in the halls at night, they tore plants from the atrium, and the stairwells smelled of urine. On our 6th day (at least 6 room cleanings, right?) we came back to our room to find two dirty, dusty toothbrushes (not ours!) on the vanity and discarded razor cartridges under the vanity. Gross!!!!!! We love Mazatlan, this was our 6th or 7th trip to this fun city. We will visit Mazatlan again, though not during Spring Break/Holy week and we will stay someplace else.

A little disappointing

The web site says there is an in room safe deposit box, but the box in the room was not working. There are boxes for free at the reception desk but we would have preferred the in room box. The elevators were bad, and not working half the time. We also had some trouble getting our door key to work half the time. Also, the site says all room were ocean view, and although we did have a view of the ocean, it was a mere sliver that we could see, and the beach was not visible at all. We also shared our balcony with 2 other suites. The room was ok however it did not meet what we were expecting.

Excellent Hotel for a GREAT Price

Royal Villas was an excellent hotel for a great price. Stayed in the Junior Suite, one room but great amenities. Kitchen was adequate for take-home meals. Plenty of grocery stores around. Beds were great and linens were very clean. Comfortable sitting area, large tv and beautiful view from the balcony of the ocean to the west and the city to the south and east. One minor issue was the musty smell in the room (probably due to humidity) but this was handled quickly by the air conditioning. The pool was large and hot tub secluded. Great place to watch the sunset. The hotel staff were particularly attentive. Excellent with assistance, directions and suggestions.

My family and I have been staying at the Royal Villas for 8 years now. The staff remembers us as soon as we walk in the hotel, and calls us by name. They are always there for any of your needs. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are clean, the lobby area is always spotless. I would suggest this resort to anyone.

Waiting to return!

Stayed 12 days and had the time of our lives. We look forward to returning and bringing our friends and family with us. The Golden Zone is great! The staff at the hotel made us feel very welcome.
