The room was spacious and well appointed, with stone floors, a comfortable bed, a deep tub, and a balcony with a beautiful ocean view. The A/C works well, and the room was cool enough for our taste. The walls are a bit thin, and you tend to hear a lot of the noise from your neighbor and the hallway. The staff was responsive and stopped a high level of noise we heard one morning from the adjacent room. Although we had read about noise from the next-door construction project, we did not notice it during our stay. Our room was not near the construction.
The pool was great - it is a large infinity pool with an outstanding view of the ocean and mountains. The swim-up bar is nice, and our favorite position was a drink in hand, looking out over the water and the mountains. The hotel common areas were excellent; however, like most places in Mexico, they are not air-conditioned.
The good news is that the Estancia, Champions Sports Bar, and Mikaido Japanese eestaurants are all air-conditioned and comfortable. The food was good at these restaurants, but somewhat overpriced. The buffet at the Estancia was available for breakfast and dinner, but was overpriced. The breakfast buffet was $17.50 and just average at best. The dinner buffet was $37and just okay. We ended up doing the breakfast off the menu and eating at the other restaurants in the hotel and at the marina.
The grounds were well kept, and the gardens were very nice, with koi ponds and exotic plants. In general, the staff was helpful and attentive; however, we did encounter a couple of glitches. First, we had a TV malfunction that lasted for 2 days until it was fixed. It was eventually fixed, and the staff comped our breakfast one morning. The other glitch was breakfast at the beach restaurant, where we experienced extremely slow service and they got our order completely wrong. This was corrected to our satisfaction when we raised it to the manager’s attention.
Overall, we found the Casa Magna to be a great place to unwind, relax, and just enjoy our days lounging by the pool. We would stay there again.

The staff there was extremely helpful and kind. I wanted to visit a few restaurants while I was there, and once I mentioned the names, the staff called and made reservations. The location of the hotel is great. The marina is a few blocks away from the hotel and is easy to walk to. The marina offers over 30 places to dine and many different choices of food. The hotel is also a 10-minute ($5) cab ride away from the boardwalk.
