March 29-April 5, 2008 - I can't say anything bad about this hotel. Great staff- rooms-maid service-beach-breakfast-dining on the beach-the view-everything was great. We had a two bedroom suite on the second floor with large rooms. The grounds were spotless - not even a blade of grass on the walks. I saw only one small ant on the patio - no other bugs anywhere- inside or outside - even on the beach after dark. Five minute walk to a shopping malls, with a Bank on the way. There 's a small convent store about two blocks down the street to the right as you exit the hotel. The store is on the left side of the street so you must cross - be careful - the drivers in Mexico are wild. If you like the "old" style Mexican look this hotel is great. However if you're into the new high- rise style hotel the Ambiance Villas is not for you. Very family oriented. The Gift shop is pricey but they all are anywhere. We took the tour to Chichen Itza. Book it online with Cancun Fun Tours. This was a wonderful enjoyable day. The tour guide was great. The guide makes the tour. Well worth the price. My wife and her 14 year old son and 17 year old daughter swam with the Dolphins and Manatee on the ISLA MUJERES and loved it - booked on-line with Dolphin Discovery. Pricey !!! We all four did a one hour snorkel while waiting for the Dolphin swim. For the $20 each additional it was okay; but I wouldn't go with Dolphin Discovery just to snorkel - wasn't that great. We chartered Cancun Kianah's Sport Fishing for deep sea fishing. These people are the BEST. Call them or go to the web-site. My step-daughter and I got sea sick so we were only out for about four hours with an hour and a half of fishing. The seas only run 3 to 5 foot so it was not a rough day. I don't know why I got sick because I've been in 10-12 foot sea and didn't get sick. In that short time My wife and step-son landed a total of 10 fish with my step-son boating an 80 pound Sail Fish. I wonder how many fish we would have caught if we had stayed out for our full 8 hour charter. We also did the Para-sailing with Aqua World. My wife loved it, the rest of us didn't. Pricey for what it was. Cancun is a wonderful place - take money - The people are friendly in the Hotel Zone - Don't know about Down Town - didn't go there. A 20 oz Pepsi ranges from 10 peso's at a drug store to 35 at the airport. The trip was well worth every penny. Would love to do it all again tomorrow.

It's a nice little villa hotel snuggled into much larger hotels. It's set (I'm told) on one of the nicest beach areas in all of Cancun, together with the El Presidente. The Hotel as a whole is very well kept. The room was pretty plain, and nothing special, but it was nice to have a suite with a kitchenette. The breakfast was excellent, but the real winner was the little bar / restaurant on the beach. Reasonable prices and excellent food. TIP: There is a little supermarket within walking distance of the hotel, maybe 5 minutes away or so. Get on the main road and head towards downtown. Stock up on snacks and water, and save yourself some cash!

Excellent Hotel

We LOVED this hotel and would definitely stay again. It was a Spanish-style building, only 3 floors and not a huge high-rise like everything else. The staff was very friendly. This is a nice location because the beach was beautiful and not crowded, yet you could walk 10-15 minutes down the beach, cut through the public pier, and be in the thick of things downtown by many restaurants, shopping, etc. The hotel's breakfast buffet (included) was awesome - made-to-order omelettes, fresh papaya and other fruit, some traditional Mexican dishes, cold cereal, bread & pastries, juice/coffee, etc. The only thing we weren't impressed with was the lunch and dinner menu, served in the tiki bar/restaurant on the beach. The food downtown (by the Convention Center) was MUCH better (and more authentic). The beach really was the cleanest, best beach that we saw (They had a machine they ran the sand through at night to extract the cigarette butts and garbage from the sand.) This beach area is protected by Isle Mujeres, so the water was very calm and amazingly clear compared to hotels on the east side of the "Hotel Zone" peninsula. The on-site travel agent offering day trips was reliable, helpful, and reasonable. Highly recommend the full-day trip to snorkel at Xel-Cha Ecological Water Theme Park. The hotel was very secure, with staff keeping an eye on the parking lot and beach round-the-clock. The beach had nice palm trees to get out of the sun, volleyball, and a nice wide stretch of beach - chairs & towels provided. The pool looked great and well-maintained. Seemed to have fun daily activities for kids - a little swingset area and corner of the pool for little ones. I would be comfortable bringing youngsters but it was mostly adults. CHECK IT OUT!

The hotel was a great deal for us. The beach view was fantanstic and the water was beautiful and the beach was clean. The rooms were clean and quiet. The hotel was not the concrete high rises on most of the strip but had flavor, grounds kept up and red tile roofs made you feel you had left the States. The breakfast gave us lots of choices. We were close to Gray Line Tour Center and restaurants were walking distance. The bus stop was across the street. We would definitely go back.

We LOVE Cancun..Staying at the Ambiance was really GREAT..We had a wonderful ocean view and then we also had a back view of the Laguna...water both sides..The air conditioning, the staff, the WATER was fabulous....the food was good...NO ELEVATOR though but it wasnt too bad unless you have problems walking...the bed was hard, but all beds that we have stayed in when we come to Mexico were hard...we had a full kitchen that was really great...We would stay here again...
