Best Kept Secret in Mexico

My husband and I decided to stay here for our honeymoon after a recommendation from his grandfather who had vacationed there previously. I was really excited after having seen several pictures online and hearing the stories his grandfather had told us of his stay.
When we got to Emerald Bay, I was amazed at how beautiful the hotel was. To top it off, the people are so welcoming and helpful. They really make you feel like you're royalty.
After checking in and being ushered to our room, my husband and I took a walk around the place. We were really blown away by the scenery. The hotel grounds, pools, restaurant, and beach looked exactly as I had seen in the pictures online. And there was always something to do, even if it was just spending a full day by the pool taking advantage of the hotel activities.
Because of the luxury you receive at an affordable price combined with great service, Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay is by far the best kept secret in Mexico. My husband and I have been so impressed, that we vowed to make it an annual vacation there.
Great location, but not that great

The hotel is beautiful. When you pull up to the front, fountains and flowers everywhere. High expectations at that point! As soon as you walk in the door, you're accosted by one of two women ready to give you $200 to attend the "get acquainted with the hotel" tour the next morning. Obviously a ploy for a time sharing speal. If you don't go, they'll totally shun you from then on.
Check in was fine. Room wasn't ready, but we hadn't eaten so we had dinner while we waited. Only one restaurant on this property. It's pricey but the food is good. We ate breakfast every morning there, and it's very good. Sunday was VERY good.. a buffet every day, and saves you having to go to town.
The room was very nicely laid out. Beds are decent, not wonderful. Got two queens instead of a king. If you have a choice, take the second or third floor. We were behind the pool, which would have been bad if the weather had been warm enough for people to be swimming late.
The first night was fine, but after that we had neighbors that were AWFUL. The first night they had some sort of party there, with kids screaming and furniture dragging all over the room. We finally had to call the front desk. The next night it was nearly the same. You could practically hear every word they were saying the walls were so thin. The upstairs guests were the same.
After the first night, the cleaning staff never replaced any of the items we used.. like shampoo and bubble bath. Didn't even replace the soaps. And we tipped every day!
Overall, a disappointment. There are a lot of nicer places in town.
Beautiful spot--Very isolated however

Don't expect to walk out your room and mingle with the "locals" in their shops, restaurants, etc.
A shuttle is the only way off this "island".
Away for everything

Very nice Resort. Just stayed a long (fri-mon) weekend and relaxed at the resort entire time. Not really near any activities so will need short travel if planning any excursions. Great poolside service both drinks and food. Very friendly and helpful staff. Awesome pool! Could use more rooms with Queen beds, but very large rooms were clean and comfortable. Heard from most guests that this was by far the nicest place in Mazatlan.
Had some concerns about food cost based on previous reviews, but pleasantly surprised. Decent prices at formal restaurant ($* plate) and food was excellent.
Didn't do the tour/time share sales because of our short stay and didn't get hassled about it.
would definately return...

Compared to many of the hotels we say in Mazatlan, Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay was by far one of the nicest. If we were to go back to Mazatlan, we would stay here again. The front desk could have been more accomodating in helping us book a fishing trip and city tour. It is like they just forgot about us. The food was ok and overpriced for the buffets (I think), but better than I had at other places in Mexico. The rooms are fabulous and worth the price, very roomy, beautiful ocean view, kitchenette. I couldn't have asked for more. Everything was very clean. The spa was absolutely a wonderful experience, the pools are perfect and the solitude of the ocean front was spectacular. Overall, our experience was good and I would recommend to friends.
