The first room they took us too was right on the beach, bottom floor. A great location, but one problem: it had 2 twin bed. We asked for a queen and they changed us right away. Our room for the week was on the 3rd (top) floor right on the beach, unit 345. We couldn't have asked for a better location. Our room had a queen bed, TV, dresser, balcony, kitchen table, kitchen with microwave, two-burner stove, refrigerator, dishes, utensils, and most importantly, a blender.
There are three pools; we spent most of our time in the main pool on the beach front. There are built in lounge chairs in the pool, so you could soak in the water and sunbathe at the same time. I fell asleep a couple of time in the pool. During the day there was always activities in the pool like volleyball and basketball. There are two swim-up bars and checkers tables in the pool with beer bottle caps used as the checkers. The beach vendors can walk up to the edge of the pool and try to sell you their goods. A simple "no gracious," and they will leave you alone. But if you need to buy some souvenirs this is the best way, the shopping comes to you.
The beach in front of the pool is lined with grass beach umbrellas and plastic lounge chairs. They offer water sports right in front of the hotel like renting personal watercraft, kayaks, banana tube rides and parasailing. The beach itself wasn't that great, the sand is course, and the water wasn't very clean because we were there during the rainy season, and there is a river that dumps into the ocean near our hotel.
There are several restaurants in the hotel. We only ate at one of them near the pool; I think it's called Las Velas. They have great buffets for around $12-$15. One night, while we were having a late dinner, they had a karaoke contest at the restaurant.
There is a Wal-Mart and a Sams Club within walking distance. We walked over and got some snacks to have in the room, and bottles of water, beer, and of course tequila and margarita mix. The blender in the room works great. I definitely recommend taking the short walk to save some money.
All-in-all this hotel met my expectations. It was very quiet and peaceful; not too many people, probably because it was the slow season. We will definitely go back and maybe even visit some of their other locations. Muchos Gracious to everyone at the Krystal!
