El Cid Resort - El Moro Tower

  • July 28, 2003
  • Rated 2 of 5 by davilin88 from Chico, California
Best Things Nearby:
The beach and Los Arcos restaurant.

Best Things About the Resort:
The spa across the street is very nice. The island in the pool has a water slide and waterfall you can swim under and is fun for the kids.

Resort Experience:
The unit was large and had a good view of the pool and the beach, but the bed was very hard and everything smelled moldy. The microwave did not work and it took a good part of a day to get it replaced. La Cascada, the onsite restaurant, was fairly good and reasonable.

Best Things Nearby:
The resort is right on the beach. Across the street and next door are some shops and restaurants.

Best Things About the Resort:
The resort was beautiful and it was right on the beach. There were a lot of activities for the vacationer to participate in as well.

Resort Experience:
The resort was beautiful inside. The hotel employees were very friendly and were eager to wait on you. They had an indoor/outdoor bar, along with a swim up bar. The resort had beach equipment you can check out. The resort was fully equipped with whatever you needed.

The bedroom was very spacious and the sofa in the living room made into a bed.

Best Things Nearby:
The best things to do nearby are either going on a catamaran over to Dear Island, where there is a feast waiting for you and there are people on the beach right outside the hotel that are ready and willing to take you over there. Other wonderful things to do nearby are to take the shuttle over to the El Cid Marina, which is a part of the resort. It is only a five minute ride and there you will enjoy a wonderful buffet and also beautiful boats, as well as pools and parks. Other things that are great to do nearby are either playing tennis or golf, or even going for a walk in the El Cid neighbodhood. The houses are beautiful and they are located right on the 27 hole golf course.

Best Things About the Resort:
The best thing about this timeshare is that anything you could think of doing or that you may want to do is ready and waiting for you. At the El Cid El Moro Tower you feel like you are in a whole other world. There is swimming, there is golfing, there is biking, there is hiking, there is tennis, there is a hot tub, there is food, there is painting, there is surfing, there is sailing - everything you could imagine is located right in your backyard. I also would say that one of the most wonderful things about this resort is the room amenities as well as the staff. The staff is wonderful and willing to accommodate your every need.

Resort Experience:
The resort is very cultural, and yet at the same time very luxurious. All the facilities are well-kept and the food is very wonderful as well as very clean. The one bedroom consists of two queen-size beds with a television and full bath. There is also a living room with a pull-out sofa as well as another full bath, and finally if you were to stay at the El Moro Tower you should request a unit ending in either 23 or 25. They are units located directly on the beach with a balcony, and watching the sun go down in Mazatlan is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. I would also recommend going March through June - that is when the weather is the best.

El Moro Tower El Cid at Mazatlan

  • January 23, 2003
  • Rated 4 of 5 by 4nzics from moreno valley, California
Best Things Nearby:
Old Mazatlan and Nuevo Mazatlan for shopping.

Best Things About the Resort:
The room we had on the 17th floor overlooking the ocean was wonderful. Also, the fact that the entire time of our stay we were not bombarded with representatives trying to pressure us into a presentation. An added bonus for my husband was getting to meet and take photos with the boxer Julio Cesar Chavez, who happened to be dining at the table next to us. According to our waiter, he comes to El Cid.

Resort Experience:
I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the resort. I also enjoyed the fact that a lot of the activities could be taken care of right on the beach in front of the resort, e.g. Waverunners, parasailing, etc.

El Cid Resort - El Moro Tower

  • July 5, 2002
  • Rated 4 of 5 by Anjinsama from Blackwell, Oklahoma
Best Things Nearby:
El Cid is huge 720 acre resort that includes several hotels, a country club and 27 hole golfcourse, and a marina complete with boats to rent for sailing or fishing. El Moro Tower is more or less centrally located and is right on the beach. La Pergola Theatre, featuring nightly live shows is located beneath El Moro Tower, while El Caracol Dance Club is located next door. Restaurants, shops and bars line Camaron Sabalo in both directions. Follow it south to Valentino's, where Camaron Sabalo ends and the Malecon begins. Valentino's is a unique place: part bar, part restaurant, part shop, part dance club, and all party. It is definitely the place to be after dark. If you want jewelry bargains, try Miguel's. While I don't recall the exact address, it is on the east side of Camaron Sabalo, about 2 blocks south of El Moro Tower, and is located next to Michael's Gallery. Miguel's has a small sign and is difficult to find. But if you find Michael's Gallery, which is much easier, just go one store to your left, and you are in shopper's heaven. It's not fancy, so if you want atmosphere, stay next door at Michael's Gallery. But if you want honest bargains, with a minimum of fuss and haggling, try Miguel's. By the way, there is no connection between the stores, despite the names.

Best Things About the Resort:
Everything. Literally. First and foremost, El Cid is clean. You could eat off the floor. And you can drink straight from the tap as they have their own resort-wide water purification system. Even the pools, complete with waterfalls and swim-up bars are filled with purified water. One of the pools winds around much of the resort and was, at one time, the largest single swimming pool in the world. It is still the largest in Mexico. El Cid allows you to buy all-inclusive days after you arrive at the rate of $55.00 per day. This allows you the financial freedom to scout out the many other wonderful restaurants, although La Concha Restaurant at El Moro Tower is excellent. And the daily maid service is simply the best.

Resort Experience:
Going to El Cid is like going home. The staff is friendly, courteous, and really goes the extra mile to be accommodating without being intrusive. The service is the best I've experienced anywhere. Really. Most staff members speak at least some English, and many speak it quite well. The rooms are large and comfortable, and even have U.S. satellite television. All of the rooms have spectacular ocean views, and balconies complete with patio furniture from where you can watch the sun sink into the ocean every night. All the rooms are air conditioned, with ceiling fans, direct dial telephones, kitchenettes, and private baths. Each room also has a private safe for valuables, but you don't need it. The staff is completely honest, and after accidently leaving my digital video camera lying out one day, we never used it again. Other amenities include guided tours, by both bus and boat, a fitness center, an organized Kids Club with planned activities for children, a ropes and wall climbing course, as well as various resort organized games and daily activities poolside. Check out the spa for a sunset massage in your own private cabana on the beach. Add a few margaritas, pina coladas or a daquari or two, and you are ready to be draped over a towel rack until morning.
