Best Things About the Resort:
I love the intimate family atmosphere. If you don't want to go to a Mega Resort (Like El Cid) and have a feeling of safety and family, this is your place. I have been here 12 times over the past 15 years (for week 19) and have gotten to know the employees and other guests that visit the same week. Friendships have been built there with some of the staff and many of the guests. In fact I have made friends with many local people and have had to pleasure of having a home cooked meal at their homes. Now that is a vacation.
Resort Experience:
This is a complex of a little over 200 rooms varying from a studio to a 3000 Sq Ft Penthouse. I have a one-bedroom/two-bathroom unit right over the beach. It is in an older building and is in need of some remodeling (which is scheduled to happen).
A new 16-story tower opened up recently and a new pool has been added. In addition a business center/internet room has been added. The cost is $1 for 15 minutes +. (Across the street is a Cafe with free wireless internet, if you have your own laptop.) There is also a small workout room with a few machines, but who wants to work out when you could be on the beach being served Margaritas and Pacificos. Just up the beach you can rent boogie boards, go parasailing, rent a wave runner, go out on a small catamaran, and much more.
The inn's award-winning Papagayos Restaurant is pretty good and right next to the beach.
Elena works the activity counter in the lobby and she is terrific at booking tours for the guests. Theresa is the sales manager, but I think of her as our cruise director -- just like Julie McCoy on the Loveboat TV show.
