I don't know where these other people stayed but this hotel was very nice. From the door man who opened the cab door to the friendly staff and cool lounge, I really enjoyed this quaint boutique hotel and i definitely will be going back. The rooms are huge! and well kept, the shower pressure was awesome (better then my own) The beach needed to be a little bit tidier but the pool made up for it. The area was mostly hotels, so to experience PR you would have to drive out, I recommend renting a car. All in all I loved this place, Its so depressing coming back to the "real world" but I'll be back. Don't read too much into the negative reviews, yor sure to enjoy your stay;)

We chose to go to Puerto Rico because we wanted to leave the US, but my husband did not have a passport and it would take far to long to get one because we are generally last minute people.
The Normandie Hotel was quick to get to from the airport, it is a beautiful hotel. Yes, there is a bit of cheese on the side because it was made after a boat, but it was lovely all the same. The view from our room was of the ocean/alcove area which was wonderful to watch. There was not a lot of noise from the other guests either.
The food, though good, was way over priced. Room service was quick and friendly. We were not bothered by anyone!

This hotel was the worst! I stayed here from 3/13/08 - 3/17. The carpet was so dirty that my friend and I had to wear flip flops in the room and even the bathroom. There were blood stains on the carpet. The vents were so dirty...My nose and eyes burned!!! The air could not be regulated so we froze for our entire stay. The odor in the room was awful!! We had to buy candles! We booked on online travel and reserved a dbl room when we got there they said they had no dbl's and offered a rollaway. But when we offered to pay they quickly found a dbl. Once we got settled into the room we realized that the shower was broken so we had to move. There was so much water the floor was soaked. The maintenance men were not at all surprised. Our next room was so nasty...The floors, walls and furniture was all soiled. We saw three rooms b/c of our moves and all were nasty! When we informed the front desk staff they just kept repeating that nothing could be done. We were offered no discounts for the filthy room or inconvenience of having to move 2x in 1 night. Fernando and liz were not at all helpful...They have no clue about customer service. We I complained about the vents and dust or mold making me sick she offered to send tea to the room. With the additional $50 a nite we ended up paying $550 p/p when we could have stayed at the hilton for $628 p/p. I had 4 friends staying at the hilton and it was clean and lovely! This place is a rip off. Trust the other reviews about the nasty conditions...They are true!! See my pics !!!

We were in the elevator on the way to breakfast when it fell with us and we were trapped in there for about 30 minutes. Although my wife was near hysterics, the staff never seemed to be upset. It was also very noisy during the night. I wouldn't recommend it at ANY price.
