It served it's purpose

I stayed for 5 days. I expected the hotel to not be like the hilton that's next door because of the previous reviews I read so it was fine for sleeping to me. The taxi ride from the airport to the hotel was $19. I arrived at about 1pm and the check in was a breeze. My room smelled kinda stale but other than that I thought the room was fine. I got clean towels everyday and my bed was made when I got back from walking around. I didn't go to the pool because it doesn't make sense to me to go to a pool when there's a beach next to it. I can go to a pool in my own neighborhood. The beach behind the hotel was ok. I went next door to the hilton's beach because they had activities. The hotel is right next to a local beach that I went to one day and it was filled with locals and it was fine. Where the hotel is located it's not on a strip so there's not much around it so you'll need to walk to the Condado area for more places to eat and more hotels about a 10 minute walk. I rented a car while I was there. $10 a day to park. No issues coming or going from the parking lot. All in all for the price of this hotel compared to other hotels it was good for the price. I wouldn't stay at the hotel again not because the service or the room was bad only because I'd like to be closer to the other hotels that are closer to the airport.

Go somewhere else!!!!!

This hotel lacks everything. The front desk took 2 hours to get our rooms. Once inside our room we saw a couple of dead bugs on our bed, the bathroom was clean. Later on, the parking attendant left his post and we had to wait 20 min to get our car out of the gate. If you have kids don't bring them here because there is nothing to do at this hotel.

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!

I don't recommend this hotel. Was there June 2 - 6, 2009 and upon arrival, my room smelled terrible! There was also a leak from the room above and after complaining about both problems, they sprayed air freshener one time in the room. It also costs $10.00/day to park in on their property and the hotel is not nearly as nice as the pictures portray. I also was to have a summer promotion deal where I got a * instant credit and the 4th night free and when I inquired about that, the standard answer from their employees was "I don't know". I really don't think this is a 3 1/2 star hotel by any means.

Bad Choice

We stayed in this holtel from May 28 - June 1, 2009. I was not happy with the hotel from the moment we got there. As soon as you pull up to the hotel you can see that it is run down. I can't understand how they say that they spent millions of dollars in 2005 on renovations cause you cannot tell. The carpets are filthy, funiture needs upgrading and the walls are desperate for some new paint. When we checked in the first room they gave us was on the 2nd floor and it was horrible. It had a musty smell, carpets were dirty, toilet and tub were cracked. We immediately went downstairs to ask for another room and the staff was very accomdating with us. They immediatly switched our room to the 7th floor. That room was not much better except that it had a balcony. The water pressure in the showers was great:) The worst part was anytime the toilets were flushed in any of the rooms ALL of the pipes rattled. The first night when we were sleeping we woke up in the middle of the night thinking the hotel was coming down. Need I say we eventually got use to the noise by the end of the trip. The pool is horrible we have a better one at our own home. The beach behind the hotel is public so access is not limited to hotel guests alone. Also there are not places to go within walking distance so we decided to rent a car because taxis get expensive to get around. I mean there is Subway across the street but who wants to go to PR and eat Subway. For the money there are alot of other options in PR even the Hilton next door!

decent hotel for price

we stayed from 5-26 - 5-30-09. most of the rooms (even suites) do not have balconies. hotel is interesting - art deco - cool decor. hotel is in need of some revamping though. paint, new carpets, cleaning of the furniture and drywall on the interior, overhaul on the exterior. pool is fine, small, and not really a great view of much of anything - but served the purpose of relaxing in and around. no chairs or umbrellas on beach, chairs - but no umbrellas by pool. the atrium has free internet - but only the atrium. there is an internet box in the room - but we could never get a connection to work. cable worked nicely on the tv. the atrium is a really neat layout being the "atrium of a cruise ship". showers have great water pressure - beds are comfortable. towels and linens are very nice . liked that there was a mini fridge in the room. everyone we encountered there was very nice and helpful. food was good. parking was $10.50/night - not as high as the hilton next door! not too much right around the normandie except for the hilton. can't really walk to anything . taxis are $12 to get into old san juan. always felt safe there. great hotel for the $/night it cost us, the hilton next door was running about $/night more. seemed to have enough to make it worth the extra $/night more as well. overall - if you get a great rate like we did - stay at the normandie - if the price is similar to the hiltons - go w/the hilton! you'll definitely get jealous of their amenities when you are staring out of your tiny window of your balcony-less room at them!
