Convenient Mexico City Airport Hilton

  • December 31, 2008
  • Rated 3 of 5 by a traveler from Travelocity.com
We arrived at 10:00 PM and needed to catch a bus the next morning, so the convenient location of the Mexico City Airport Hilton was what we needed. The room was OK but it was a smoking room and it reeked! If you stay, be sure to ask for a nonsmoking room when you book! Also, the breakfast buffet at the restaurant was OK but way overpriced. (No reason to spend $60 on an average buffet breakfast for 3 in Mexico!) There is another restaurant one floor down that would probably be just fine.

The hotel is really convenient because it is IN the airport... But it smells really bad (and I usually can't smell anything). Stayed there for a couple of nights for business reasons. If you are not pressured by time, you might want to stay elsewhere in the city.

Hilton Mexico City Airport

The hotel was very conveniently located inside the terminal of the airport. We booked the "romance" package, which included a bottle of champagne and a heart-shaped cake with the room.

On the surface, the room looked like a standard three-star Hilton--fairly nice with a comfortable queen-sized bed. It had amenities such as TV, trouser press, iron, phone, minibar, etc.

We had several problems such as no towels and we had to go back to the front desk to ask for our champagne and cake. There was a burned-out bulb, missing bulb, broken light fixture, missing closet knob, poor TV reception, and no literature in the room pertaining to the hotel or surroundings. Lastly, they brought us the champagne and cake on a nice trolley. We thought it was really neat to have a little treat. The cake was clearly some leftover piece that had been left uncovered in the fridge for entirely too long. It was cardboard-covered with frosting. No complaints about the champagne, though.

I was sick that night and morning, so we didn't complain about other problems on the way out. I sent a letter to Hilton outlining the problems. We received a 20% refund on our credit card and a nice apology letter.

There was a very nice breakfast buffet in the morning that my husband rather enjoyed (I was too sick to eat).

Overall, I would suggest staying somewhere closer to the city and just taking a cab in the morning. It will cost less and the standards of quality will be much higher.
