Don't get Stuck!

The hotel did undergo some remodeling, but it was to the lower level/main entrance. The rooms are not what the photos show. All windows in the rooms are locked shut, and the bathroom had no exhuast fan, so the the room was very stuffy. Relative to remodeling, the beds in the room were updated and very comfortable. If your a business traveler and in need of Internet Access "High Speed", you might want to consider staying some place else like the Hyatt LAX or the Radisson LAX. The Sheraton upgraded from dial up to High Speed 2 years ago and they have been having problems every since. During my stay, their Internet System "FAILDED". I found out that the internet system at this hotel fails all the time! The staff in the hotel were very friendly and warm, but they all couldn't look me straight in the face, when I asked them how often their internet system fails. My room was some what clean, but it did have some mold/mildew in the tub. The new bed with down pillows, was truly the highlight relative to my room.

Some good and some bad

Very small room. I was given one on the 2nd floor - I suppose in exchange for my booking thru one of the travel websites ? . No full length mirror or any length for dressing for business day. Only the one in the bathroom. Also - that carpet in the hallways of the 2nd floor was distrubingly grimy and in need of immediate replacement. I think I saw spills from 10 years ago stained into that thing all along my walk to my room. Not a good impression before even going into my room. That said, the lobby is very nice and comfortable however. Great hang out / gathering area off the coffee stand - one of the best I have seen. The parking is also easy to access and a decent rate for hotel parking. Also the gym there is very nice relative to some of the other hotels along the airport strip. One issue I had is the absolute lack of service / zip that they had in the lobby bar / restuarant. Not many people there really - but in my over 1 hour stay having drinks and dinner, not once did the waiter come and check on me. I had to flag him down each time I needed something. It honestly seemed like he had to jump in the back an make the food - there was so much time when he was away. The breakfast cafe however had outstanding service in the mornings. Maybe my experience in the bar was remote. But it was honestly very frustrating.

My Experience at the hotel

My overall experience was good. I only had two problems -- parking Saturday evening was difficult as there was a party and no parking had been assigned for guests staying at the hotel. The other was - the hotel was a non smoking hotel. They had no rooms assigned for smokers and they posted a sign in the room stating a * charge would be assigned to your credit card if signs of smoking in your room.

Disappointed

Because of lost luggage, arrived at the hotel about 8 pm. At check-in requested a late checkout and was told I could stay till 2pm. As my plane didn't leave till midnight, explained I wanted to stay till about 8 pm. Was told I could pay an extra $ but had to leave at 6 pm. Tired and angry, made my way to my room to leave my luggage and have a quick wash before heading to the restaurant. Having travelled from the east coast, my body clock was telling me it was about 11 pm and I was extremely hungry. I waited 20 mins to be served (because I was a woman travelling alone? A man who arrived a few minutes after me, was ordering his dessert as my meal arrived) and another 30 before my meal arrived. The salmon was covered with barbecue sauce and my "vegetables" (a couple of spears of asparagus on a couple of slices of tomato) were covered in melted cheap cheese. Returning to my room for a shower and bed, I was disheartened by the brown stained non-slip dots and the shabbily mended tiles above the bath. The shower tap was loose and to keep the water temp warm, it had to be held. Very difficult when trying to wash your hair at the same time. The bed was clean and comfortable. TV channel choice was limited.

My trip lasted about a week. The hotel was clean, quiet and well priced. No complaints.
