2 Star Hotel, Dirty, Small Rooms, Shabby

I was horrified by the lack of quality in this so-called 4 star hotel. The room was tiny, not at all like the photo that represented it, the photo has since been changed. It was dirty and wallpaper was peeling off the walls, I immediately complained and was taken to a room that was only a tad less shabby, this one had cracks in the ceiling and walls, a large stain on the rug about the size of a watermelon, grime covered the bathroom door and moldings. Our hallway smelled constantly of feces and was also shabby with scraped moldings and walls giving off an institutionalized feel. I was offered another room but didn't have any faith whatsoever that the third time would be a charm. I was offered a free water and soda as a consolation...which at the end of my stay they tried to charge me for! I called the online travel agency immediately and received very little information or help. I can only imagine what an hour on my cell phone will cost for that lengthy international call which yet again offered no hope of any resolve. I was told that I would have to stay the night and check out in the morning and then, THEN another hotel will try to be procured for me. I was terrified of the prospect of being homeless for the week and decided to just tough it out and stay. The only good thing i can say about this hotel was that it was near the tube station and that some of the staff were nice. London itself was wonderful and I tried to spend as little time as possible at the hotel.

London Vacation 2-9 Nov 08

We were expecting small rooms while in London and were not disappointed. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed with the exception of space. The bathroom was small but more than enough room to shower. The overall hotel was very pleasing to the eye. The lobby was very nice and the staff friendly and helpful. We never actually ate in the restaurants because we were running around, but they appeared pleasing and clean. The Tavern was a nice place to unwind at night. The only complaint I had was I booked this hotel because all rooms were air conditioned. When we arrived, there clearly was no A/C. Even though it was cooler outside the rooms got stuffy. After about 3 days I called the front desk to ask for a fan and explained, and was told that the hotel does have A/C but maintenance had shut it off since it was cold outside. She said to give her a few minutes and she would have the A/C in our room turned back on. Within minutes it was on. However, on our last night there they cut the air back off. Over all I felt the hotel met all our needs and it was extremely close to the Glouseter Underground which we used all the time. Buy the travel pass, it is well worth it for getting around London. If you get the pass for 6 zones, it will even take you to Windsor Castle which some will tell you you can do. Just take the underground to Slough and you can catch a train to Windsor by simply showing your travel pass to the attendant and there is no additional charge.

Hotel is located close to subway terminal easy to get around to see all the sights. Most of the employees were helpful and friendly. The lobby area was nice. The room was kind of shabby not what you'd expect for a 4 star hotel. Tub & toilets were plugged up several times.

Great Location

The location of this hotel is great. You are less than 50 yards from the tube. The street is quiet but safe. You can walk to the hotel late and feel safe. The food in the hotel is not that great but there are a few places you can walk to. There is a Whole Food a couple blocks over. I would suggest to get a Oyster Card for the Tube. It is a lot cheaper than paying for each trip. Also, The hop on hop off bus pick up is down the street. I would suggest during this on the first day so you can get around London. Bring plenty of money the exchange rate was .44 pounds for every us dollar. Also, make sure you visit Picidilly Circle. You will enjoy it. It is 3 stop on the tube.
