I'm a Chief of Police and recently I was seeking an affordable, yet clean and safe motel to stay several days while my family was hospitalized in the St. Louis area. I found the St. Louis Travel Lodge and asked to see the room before my wife and I accepted it. The desk clerk was very accommodating and I was impressed with the cleanliness of the entire complex, inside and outside. The room had a refrig., microwave, hair dryer, iron and board, a safety locking compartment for valuables, along with the normal tables, chairs, lamps and etc.. The kings size bed was VERY COMFORTABLE and all items appeared to be well maintained and not wornout or damaged. The next morning, the manager, who is also the owners wife, met with me and modified my rate by 10% reduction to help out since my family was in the hospital. All the staff members were well groomed and polite the entire time we spent at the lodge. We had only a few extra request during our stay, but you can be assued that each of them were met promptly and without any question. Our room was cleaned each day while we were at the hospital and there was NEVER any indication of any bugs or anything else from my observation. My wife would not tolerate us being anywhere that is below our personal high standards and she was as impressed as I, with the Travel Lodge, so much so that we unexpectily had to return to St. Louis two days after checking out and I merely phone the Travel Lodge and they once again provided us with a great room and service. I RECOMMEND THE ST. LOUIS TRAVEL LODGE TO ANYONE THAT DESIRES CLEAN COMFORTABLE LODGING FOR A REASONABLE RATE.
Great....Until the last day

All in all, I felt I got a good deal....until 12 midnight on December 6th. I was laying in bed, and the guest next door to me pounded on the wall for no reason. My head was resting against the headboard and the force of it jarred my head foward. Very scary! Early that morning upon going to the restroom, I had a little visitor with me......a roach in the shower. I basically packed my bag and high-tailed it out of there. I let the front desk know about the roach. They were apologetic, but not willing to compensate me for my inconvenience. The continental breakfast was a box of donuts and juice, so if you are really hungry go across the street to Steak n Shake....you'll be better off.
