This is the nicest hotel we have ever stayed at. Absolutely beautiful with great staff. The rooms were very clean with plenty of space. The staff is courteous and totally customer oriented. We used room service dly and it was frequently there within minutes in spite of the hotel being very busy. Location on Nob Hill beautiful and quiet-had view of the Bay from our room. Rooms very quiet-no problems with noise-didn't even hear the elevator and our room was next to it. Bathrooms are modern and very spacious-beds very comfortable.

Hotel was just amazing! We upgraded our rooms to the newer part of the building (The tower rooms) explained to the front desk clerk that this was my first visit to san fran and would love a view. OMG he gave me a room with full bay views...the views were breathtaking! The hotel as a whole is just beautiful, so much history! This is an older hotel, so dont expect clean modern design...it is grand extravagant and just wonderful. The hotel is near everything! word to the wise the hills are beastly near by...bring good walking shoes! The staff was so helpful. Visit the Tonga Room if you get the chance! it is so wonderfully over the top tacky...complete with indoor thunderstorms a band on a boat and huge drinks in pineapples!!! I had a blast there! i would stay at The Fairmont again in a heartbeat!
Beautiful Hotel with Housekeeping Woes

The room we had was beautiful. Small with no view, but we were there to visit family so no big deal. Checked in around 3:00 p.m. & left. Returned around 11:30 (1:30 a.m. "our time") so were tired. Upon turning down the bed saw what appeared to be blood or ketchup across the top edge of the sheet, then found an area about the size of a fist that had an unidentifiable mess on it on the corner of the sheet. The front desk immediately sent someone up to change the bed, but they were only going to change the top sheet. We insisted the entire bed linens be changed. My husband went to talk to the manager on duty and was told no one had been in our room (our point!) & then suggested that maybe the airconditioner leaked on the bed (it was a window unit 10-12 feet from the bed). She never once apologized for the inconvenience and insisted on seeing the sheets. We decided we didn't want to drink out of the glasses and had already filled the ice bucket. The next day we returned to our room to find water in the ice bucket, the same glass sitting on the dresser, and white residue on the unused glass. The 3rd evening of our stay we returned to find "residue" in the toilet that was not left by us. Again the ice bucket had not been emptied and the "fresh" washcloth I picked up had 2 black smudges on it. Other than those problems, the bed was extremely comfortable, had a huge walk-in closet and a wonderful flatscreen TV. Lobby was beautiful. Room Service staff was very pleasant. We were not willing to pay $* for breakfast, so only had coffee.

My friend and I stayed there for 2 nights in February and it was great. The service was excellent, the location was excellent, the room was excellent and the price was unbelieveable for a Fairmont in the heart of San Francisco. Would definitely stay there again if the price is anywhere near what we paid .
