Quiant "European" feel in the heart of Portland

This was a great find. You walk into a beutiful lobby, then must walk up narrow stairs, through narrow halls till it opens up to your well maintained and each one unique room. Some rooms have a shared bathroom if price and not privacy is an issue. The neighborhood is working class, not dangerous. The restaurant next door is fantastic. All within about a 20 min walk to the Old Port. Very romantic place. The lack of an elevator and road noise from Congress St. are the only potential issues I feel anyone can have with this place. I will definitely go back again when in the area.

Good Value

This older, european-style hotel is convenient to downtown and the hospital. Rooms are small but adequate. The real eye catcher here is that what you get for a dollar is excellent. If you pay for your hotel room out of your own pocket, and can do without gist shops and pools, you should stay here.

What a tremendous find!

When we drove up to the inn, admittedly we were a little concerned about what we would encounter. Not being from the area, our initial impression owas that the was "old" and seemingly unsafe. However, that is not at all the case! This inn is close to everything great in Portland! You are walking distance to all the great shops (less than a mile away), although we still chose to drive because we just didn't feel comfortable walking around at night in immediate proximity to the inn. There is a cool bar basically next door and a ton of other great restaurants and bars close by. The staff provided us with a complimentary upgrade, which was beautiful. We loved the room and I really loved that we did not have any other expenses once we checked in. The inn has free wireless internet, parking, computer use with a printer, continental breakfast, hot tea, lemonade, etc. Even better was that we were less than 2 miles to the airport. The staff was very helpful and always willing to answer questions we had about the area and about specific restaurants. The bottom line is that I typically stay in the high end hotels (4+ star) and I was very apprehensive to try something off the beaten path. Hands down, my next trip to Portland will include another stay at this inn. It was a great find and I will encourage my friends to stay there in the future!
