Very pleased

We spent the weekend to attend a Jacksonville Jaguars football game. When I made the reservation I didn't realize how far out of town this hotel is - my ignorance.
Nonetheless, this is one of the best hotels I've stayed in. The staff were friendly, professional, and eager to please. Because of a miscommunication on our part, our prepaid transportation to the game fell through. The concierge spent at least an hour trying to set it right for us. She was not successful, but we really, really appreciated her effort. She suggested the city game day shuttle service (to and from the stadium) for $10. What a bargain!
Our room was comfortable, spacious and immaculate. The evening Manager's Receptions were enjoyable, not crowded, and laid back. The complimentary cooked to order breakfasts were also quite good, with a wide variety of choices to suit many dietary needs/preferences. Our stay was during the Christmas holiday, and the atrium decorations were appropriate and not overbearing.
The steakhouse restaurant in the hotel is a must. It's not a Ponderosa or a Golden Corral, so don't expect cheap. But price doesn't matter when the food and service are this good. Treat yourself to an incredible steak dinner at this restaurant - you will not be disappointed. The personable and knowledgeable staff, combined with the clubby decor, create the feeling you are in an upscale restaurant in New York or LA, not a hotel in Jacksonville. And, make sure you're hungry when you go, the portions are beyond generous.
I was quite pleased by this Embassy Suites hotel. I have travelled to Canada, UK, CA, NV, TX, New England, VA, WV, GA, NC, SC, and the Caribbean. Only a handful of hotels have impressed me as this one has. We will stay again.

The hotel was fabulous. My husband thought that he would not like it because he is accustomed to looking out at an ocean or river in Jacksonville. Yes, he missed St. John;s River and the beach. But who can beat the style and free hot breakfast at Embassy Suites. From the custodian to the managers, they take so much pride in what they do. This made up for the view and saved us money! Augustine Beach was not far and the river was about 20 minutes away!

I was very satisfied with the quality of the hotel. The interior corridor of the hotel was breathtaking. I was able to take nice photos by the waterfalls. The location is excellent because there are other restaurants located within a mile or two from the hotel. The only thing that I did not like was the pancakes and heated eggs. I had to throw that away because it wasn't hot enough, so I went for a made to order omelet. That was excellent. The juices were terrible (o.j. tasted like powdered Tang). Other than that, I was satisfied.
You must have patience to stay here

Staff was mostly friendly, except one person who I spoke with on the phone. Key cards did not work at first, took over 1/2 hour to fix the problem. There was a thermostat in our room, set to 60, but it was always at least 75 degrees F in our room. Very uncomfortable with the humidity. We called the front desk on four separate occasions to remedy the situation, and they always said that they would send someone up to fix it. No one ever arrived. The breakfast offered a lot of variety, but all that was supposed to be hot was cold (eggs, bacon, pancakes...yuck!). One night, there was a wedding ceremony and reception in the courtyard (beautiful ceremony), but it was very loud. All the rooms face the courtyard, so all the non-wedding guests were disturbed (and it continued well into the night). The internet costed $10 per 24-hours per computer. I found this to be archaic seeming the hotels that are a lot less fancy seem to all offer complimentary wireless and wired internet service (which was the case at the other two hotels I stayed at during my trip...and they costed considerably less per night). Elevators were slow and one was broken. Stairs were not easily accessible.
