I moved to Raleigh in December 2006 to start a job in the neighboring town of Cary, NC. I opted to stay at the Studio Plus in north Raleigh because I thought I was only going to be here a few months and didn't want to pay the price of a short term apartment. The hotel room is a little larger than a regular hotel room and has a full size appliance kitchen. The kitchen and the low price are the only thing that really make this place different than any other hotel. Selling my house in Georgia and buying a house in Raleigh has taken long than I expected, so I've been here for about 4 months.
The good: full size fridge and a microwave and kitchen sink (the stove is fine, but I tried cooking something in the room one time and the smell and the grease turned out to be more trouble than it was worth); wireless internet access for a one-time fee of around $5. Housekeeping cleans your room once a week. The best thing was the cheap price, about $3-$4 a day for a monthly rate.
The bad: the condition of the hotel is not that great but I was told it was due for renovation. Only two of the coin-operated dryers work in the laundry room, so you have to do laundry at an odd hour or jockey for washers and dryers. The housekeeping schedule was sometimes erratic and I had to remind the desk that I hadn't had my room cleaned.
Overall, if you need a cheap place to crash for a couple of weeks or months, it's OK. I would check and see if some of the newer hotels in the Extended Stay chain in the area have more available space.
