Exorbitant pet fee and horribly rude management

This place charges $**, non-refundable, for a pet of any size. They told me that they "deep clean" the room for a full 24 hours if a pet stays in it (whether they actually do this would be interesting).
Anyway, I totally respect hotels having stringent pet policies or forbidding pets. We are always happy to stay at Motel 6 in a pinch. But I had a problem because I made the reservation on a bad cell phone connection in the car through the 1-800 number, so I didn't realize just how much it was going to cost, and the cancellation policy was a full night's stay - so we were out $** either way. When I complained, the manager went totally nuclear on me, got very very nasty and wouldn't stop yelling at me. I yelled back (good for me!) and she waived all charges. So, thank goodness. But another customer overheard our conversation and told me I was in the right - the manager was way out of line - so hopefully she is scaring enough customers away to get in some trouble for her general meanness.
Bottom line: not a nice enough place to pay that much, and I certainly don't want to be abused by anyone when I'm traveling. Coincidentally, the pet-friendly Motel 6 just 1/2 mile away was TOTALLY nice, clean and friendly!!
