Boutique Hotel With Taste and Style

The Wild Palms is at the other end of the spectrum from corporate hotel chain beige look-alike what town are we in and what in the world did they spray this room with places. It's open and colorful and a real pleasure to return to at the end of the day. Highly recommended.

Great Place to Stay

I travel a lot for work, so I have seen a broad array of hotes. This hotel really surprised me with its quality and charm. The rooms are clean and attractive. The pool area is very nice. The back courtyard where my room is has a nice sitting area. I have been here for most of two weeks and have twice received small gifts from the hotel for their gratitude. They saw the pop that I like to drink and had a cold bottle sitting in ice for me when I got back to my room. Those small touches make this a really nice place to stay. The other great thing is that I was staying across town at a different hotel before this and that hotel (Best Western) was adequate, but not great; and the price I'm paying the same price. I will absolutely stay here whenever I come back to the Sunnyvale area.

Nearly perfect

We loved the decor and the super-comfortable beds and pillows. The rooms and grounds were very clean and well-kept, and I always felt safe on the grounds and in the lot. We did have some minor complaints -- nothing that would prevent us from recommending the Wild Palms to anyone at all, but there were a few things that could be improved. Two of us traveled with laptop computers that would not fit in our room safes. The laptops are both wide-screen, so this isn't surprising, but wide-screen laptops are becoming more common, so the hotel ought to be helpful in dealing with security for them, and they really weren't. They didn't 'get it' when we brought them to the front desk for safe-keeping one morning before we went out for the day. When we came to retrieve them, they were sitting in plain view on a shelf behind the front counter, where anyone could have walked off with them. I hate it when sinks and tubs don't drain well. Our tub was fine, but the sink drained very slowly, and a note to house-keeping didn't result in any improvement (so we just lived with it). One room was a double, and had an ethernet port. The other was a king, and had only the property-wide wireless. Better than nothing, but not as good as ethernet would have been. I hope they plan to put it in everywhere. The walls could definitely have better insulation. One night I got up several times to crank up the air conditioning just to get the noise from it to drown out ambient noise -- travelers who are especially bothered by noise should bring ear-plugs, I guess. That's about all I have -- again, we were mostly delighted with our experience there, and hope to go back.

Nice, Inexpensive Hotel, Good Value

My wife, son and I stayed at the Wild Palms in July 2007 for a weekend trip. The rooms are a little bit small, but still comfortable. We had a room with twin beds; I normally prefer queens when travelling, but for the price, it was a good trade off. The room was very clean and nicely styled. The bathroom was clean and had no leaks or problems. There doesn't seem to be an elevator for the second floor, where we stayed. The side entrances to the rooms (not the main entrance) were all gated and all required room keys, which is a good security feature. The room had a safe! Great idea, all hotels should have them! The hotel is off of the main road going through the center of the S.F. peninsula, El Camino Real, so there are lots of small restaurants, chain restaurants, drug stores, stores of all kinds not too far away. We liked the hotel and will continue to use it when the opportunity presents itself. I can't say it is super fancy, but it is clean, the room and bathroom were comfortable and nicely styled and quiet. What more could a person want? Oh, yeah, it has a continental breakfast. Not much, but it's free! That's what more a person could want!

Very pleasant stay

Hotel staff was very courteous and helpful, check in/out was a breeze. Rooms were nice and clean but a little on the small side. Pool area was nice although I didn't use it. Free breakfast every morning was great. The hotel bar has very limited hours which was disappointing. I hope to stay here next year when I return to this area.
