This was listed as a four star hotel. I would give it three, at best, and that only because of the outside staff. No pool, no broadband, polite but unhelpful front desk. Just off on so many details. Really no "Wow" factor at all. Would not stay there again.

2 room suite was sweet

The rooms were large and nicely appointed. we stayed in the first building and between the traffic noise and road noise, it was noisy! Ask for a room away from that area. Loved the courtyard with the chess set, putting green and volley ball net. very nice family hotel

Westin Horton Plaza San Diego

From a location standpoint, the Westin cannot be beat for proximity to the Horton Plaza mall (it is right next door) and the Gaslamp Quarter, a 3-minute stroll away.

Rooms are practical and have the appearance of a business hotel, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Rooms are clean and have windows that can open to allow in fresh air. The hotel has four bi-level suites, which features dining area and a separate living area with plasma TV, with the bedroom and bathroom/Jacuzzi upstairs. All rooms have the Westin Heavenly Bed which is the best thing about the hotel. You are bound to get a good night's sleep on the bed.

The gym has a good range of cardio equipment (bikes and Stairmasters) and an adequate number of weights. Prices are comparable to the W San Diego (see my other review), so your choice of hotel is dependent on whether you prefer chic (W) or practical and better location (Westin).

Tip: The lobby area bar/lounge has free wireless Internet.

We were in San Diego for a Family Wedding., I must say the service is exceptional and professional. the Bellman and the Valet where both very helpful. Our room was beautiful . the only drawback was the internet service wouold not work, but we were moved to another room immediately. I would suggest this hotel to anyone.

The Westin Horton Plaza San Diego

The Westin Horton Plaza is a beautiful hotel. As all Westins do, they have the Heavenly bed with down comforters and pillows and the Heavenly shower with dual showerheads.

We had a basic room with two full beds, a flat-screen TV, desk, and seating area. It would have been nice if the room had had a dresser, but we made due, also the rooms do not have decks or patios. The concierge and doorman service was wonderful, but housekeeping was lacking a bit. Just some minor things, but I expect more from the Westin. The pool & gym were basic. The Wesitn is usually pretty "kid friendly" and have the "Westin Kids Club",however this hotel did not have the cartoon channels, and a week without cartoons was hard for my two boys! They do have video games & movies. In the lobby there is a Starbucks Cyber Cafe which is really nice.

The hotel is connected to the Horton Plaza shopping center, which is absolutely the best shopping mall I have ever seen! It is a 5-story open-air mall. It reminds me of a Mexican Riviera market. I only wish that the hotel had a walkway directly into the mall. I would love to shop there every day!

The hotel is also close to everything! The bus, trolley, grocery stores, banks... you name it, and it's within walking distance!

All in all, our visit was great. I love the Westin and San Diego and can't wait to go back--hopefully soon, or even become a new resident someday!!
