Ojai Valley Inn is a fabulous place. Great golf course, very friendly service and a relaxing, pristine setting. And, for me a bit unexpected, the food at the various dinning facilities was top notch: really good wine list, not surprisingly.

What a mistake

Oh, how we regret spending our honeymoon at the Ojai Valley Inn! As soon as we arrived we were struck by the attitude of the check-in staff, who didn?t seem to care much whether we were there or not. The room itself was spacious but nothing special, and we were instantly struck by how we could hear everything outside the doors as well as every step taken by the people in the room above us. We immediately upgraded, but the new room was actually smaller and had the same noise problems. Both rooms were a far cry from the ?luxury accommodations? they advertise. You?d think that a $600-per-night room would come with its own private balcony or patio, but nope. We shared a ?porch? with four other rooms. You?d also think that a $*-per-night room would come with complimentary spa access. Nope. The same daily fee applied for using the spa, which in itself was a huge disappointment. You?d also think that with a $* per night room there might be some kind of system for reserving bikes ahead of time -- but nope. It?s first-come, first-served for the mere dozen or so bikes available, and they go fast. And as soon as we got them, we were shocked by their dilapidated condition ? they were old and rusted, with baskets that are broken and black with mold. One final note of insult added to injury. My husband had called ahead of time to let them know that we were on our honeymoon, to which they replied that they had something "very special planned." We waited and waited, to no avail -- nothing special came to us. We feel like we were totally ripped off and that our honeymoon was ruined. Don't waste your money on this place.

Very relaxing

This is my second stay at the Ojai Inn and Spa, and it was wonderful again. The front desk was very accomodating, and the facilities are great - lunch at the Oak grill, treatments at the spa, relaxing by the adult only pool.. Its a great weekend getaway.

After a major renovation, the accommodations at the Ojai Valley Inn are better than ever! In the last 6 months, we stayed in the Casa Blanca wing twice, and we were thrilled both times. The white, Spanish-style building surrounds a center courtyard beautifully landscaped with white flowers (hence the name). Our spacious room (#514) had a gas fireplace (powered by a remote!), plasma TV, huge, beautiful bathroom, and a private balcony overlooking the golf course. There was also a lovely sectional sofa with lots of pillows, and the bed was wonderful!

Although you may not want to leave your room, the spa, golf course, and restaurants are a very short walk away, and you'll want to spend lots of time at all of these places. There is an adult pool by the spa (ages 16 and older) that has underwated speakers and another pool area specifically for families. (There is also a children's camp, which we've never taken advantage of.) We also took some complimentary exercise classes (which range from yoga and tai chi to spinning and dance), worked out in the gym, and went horseback riding. (We didn't have time for the art classes or nature walks/hikes.) If you feel like shopping, a lovely gift shop has cute clothes, shoes, jewelry, and skin-care products.

Evenings at the inn are magical, starting with the pink sunset over the verdant mountains and ending with a star-studded sky that you never get in Los Angeles. The summer months allow for alfresco dining at the Oak Grill. You won't want to miss a dinner here.

A weekend at the Ojai Valley Inn is definitely worth the splurge. You will be pampering your mind, body, and soul.

Rooms are decorated in the hacienda motif with views of the garden, golf course, or the mountains. Any view is nice and you will enjoy the furnishings of the room with Aveda products. There are specials that include day at the spa and breakfast.
