Excellent Stay at Pembroke Townhouse

We stayed at Pembroke Townhouse recently and had a very nice stay. Found the hotel on line and booked for two nights, thought the location was good in a lovely area and far enough away from the centre of town so was very quiet - took about 10 minutes to walk to main shopping area of Grafton Street. Hotel was spotlessly clean and staff very nice and friendy. Didnot have breakfast so don't know what that was like. Liked the fact that you can get the and homemade cookies for free sent up to your room any time and like the little larder and games in the lounge area. Am amazed by some of the reviews just read here - did not find that at all. Only thing woudl say was that the hotel was hard to find and especially the car park entrance.

nice clean room. one slight problem, possibly nit-picking, but there wasn't a fridge. nice shops and restaurants within walking distance. a nice plus is a small lounge (bar) on-site. the two staff members I met were very cordial. would go back again
Do Not Stay at Red Roof Inn Toms River!

We decided to make a weekend trip to visit Great Adventure and thought that this Red Roof Inn would be a convenient location at a good price. Upon check in the front desk clerk ignored the rate we had booked and actually put an override on our reservation to increase our rate. He stated that they will not honor any rate below $* unless the customer provides a printout of the reservation. I made the reservation through Travelagent not online so I had no printout. Even after Travelagent faxed a copy of their printout confirming my rate he refused to provide a refund saying "It's Saturday - the banks are closed." Despite being assured that a credit would be issue the following Monday no credit has been issued to my card after more than a month. Travelagent has done absolutely nothing to help resolve the problem either. DO NOT STAY HERE if you do not want to be ripped off.

This hotel's service was horrible! During our 2 day stay our hotel room was never cleaned or serviced once. .Upon returning to the hotel room, 11:30 p.m. we learned our bedding was never changed and our hotel room never cleaned. We were told was that there was "no maid service" on weekends." Trash and dirty towels were left in the hallway outside our hotel room all night and into mid-morning under his watch and much to his full knowledge. It appeared clean and well kept, however that was the a major misconception due to laziness and poor management of hotel manager himself.

Pembroke Town House

We were looking for something a little out of the ordinary in our accommodation in Dublin. We also wanted to spend as close to 100 euros as possible. I had come across the Pembroke Townhouses in my search of the internet, they were highly recommended and when Travelprone added her recommendation, that sealed the deal.
Pembroke Rd. is in Ballsbridge. While not exactly downtown, it is an easy walk to St. Stephens Green. We knew we were in for something special from our first sight of the impressive curving double stairway that leads to the first floor lobby. Please be patient. You need to be buzzed in.
The hotel has a very European staff, Sophie who we met the first evening is from France and during our entire stay I never met anyone who was a native. The lobby will make you feel as if you are a guest in a private home, a fireplace with some comfortable chairs and sofas. Very stylish and sophisticated.
We had three rooms on the 6th floor, which is the top floor of the hotel. We had all standard room and they were compact but fully functional. If you want something larger, 602 is a suite and if the floor plan is correct it is about double the size of our room. We had a king size bed, two circular antique night stands with multiple drawers, a large armoire where we stored our smaller luggage, a desk with a phone and hair dryer. We had a small tv attached to the wall which had a fairly good selection of channels from all over Europe.
Our bathroom was bright and light with a large tub and shower combination. The tub was deep and high off the floor. There were lots of nice amenities including a sewing kit. One thing I noticed was that the shampoo was replaced every day and the partially used ones were thrown out. We had plenty of plush towels and the bath towel was huge, we even had a face cloth.
Breakfast was included and is available from 7:00a.m to 10:00 p.m. in a breakfast room on the second floor (the lobby is the second floor). There is a continental. buffet with several cereal choices, yogurt, fresh fruit and a couple of cake choices. You pick your juice and your coffee, tea or hot chocolate is delivered. You then can choose to have French toast, an omelet, an Irish fried breakfast or lamb kidneys. Needless to say, the last item was never delivered to our table. Service at breakfast was hit or miss. The first day was a total miss, we never got any toast and we had to keep asking for anything we wanted. The second two days were great, plenty of toast, jellies and drinks.
We loved this hotel. Everything about it was wonderful and warm and the price was unbeatable.
